PREVIOUS UPDATES: December 2001

December 31st
-Well, last day of 2001, and this month was a 'stellar' month for me. Even though I had one full week where I was in Toronto and therefore could not do anything that week, I still managed to pull off nothing less than 10 reviews! (My goal was 5 in December) And of course, there were 11 total reviews posted as my cousin did his first review. I posted the Moulin Rouge review today, and will start working on the newsletter, hopefully completing it in time to send it off tonight. I found out that Bytowne cinema is showing Amelie and Gosford Park in January, so I might be able to see those movies sometime soon. Anyway, happy New Year's (tomorrow I'm going to see Ali, so my first review of the new year should be that) and next post will be in 2002!

December 30th
-I'm getting back on top of things...another two reviews were done today, this time for Harry Potter & the Philosopher's Stone and America's Sweethearts. I saw Spy Kids last nite so a review for that one is coming later. Here are the first priority reviews...note that Sleepy Hollow which I have been delaying for awhile is not on here, as I am going to watch it a second time sometime near the beginning of February, at which time I will do a review for it. THE LIST: Moulin Rouge, Spy Kids, Ali (which will be the top priority after I see it on Tuesday), Erin Brockovich, Antitrust, L.A. Confidential. This list may change often, but for now, these are the priorities.

December 28th
-Today was a good day...I got the Memento dvd earlier this week, and today I got the Moulin Rouge and Sleepy Hollow dvds, and I pre-ordered The Fast and the Furious. And my dad finally got a dvd player. Anyway, I posted the Fellowship of the Ring review, and my cousin Vm1 made his debut as a reviewer, which can be found in the biggest section of this site, the movie reviews page, and comes in the form of a review for A.I.

December 27th
-Not much today, just got back from Toronto, took down the holiday site decorations, and put the normal logos back up...I saw Moulin Rouge, Fellowship of the Ring, America's Sweethearts, The Negotiator, and Harry Potter so expect those reviews coming soon as well. (I am also going to see Ali next week) My cousin is going to start working on reviews soon, and will most likely be doing reviews for Swordfish and A.I., though he may decide to do something else first. Trivia was also updated.

December 21st
-I managed to get one more review done before I go to Toronto-Never Been Kissed has a review up now. I am going to see Fellowship of the Rings, Ali, and maybe some other movies over the holidays, so when I come back, I might have reviews for those movies. I MAY POSSIBLY update while I am at my cousin's, although this isn't very likely...we'll see. I also updated the Memento review with my better version which has been wallowing around my comp for awhile.

December 19th
-Well, everything is moved and back online again...the movie trivia most likely won't be updated till at least the 29th of December. However, I will try to get some more reviews finished, and maybe have one or two more for that date to put up. I'm working on the Never Been Kissed review, as well as Erin Brockovich, The Emperor and the Assassin, Scream, L.A. Confidential, Antitrust, Sleepy Hollow, Anaconda, and The Mask of Zorro. The news section was updated today as well.

December 15th
-...Apparently, it will only be down for the 16th...American Pie 2 review was changed a bit, the logo for The Others was changed to the Italian poster instead on the review, most pages were updated so that they did use the font tag. As you can see, the index page, navigation bar, and main page have all been redecorated for the holidays! The banners and colours will revert back to the original ones after the holidays...A Canadian flag was also added to the navigation bar...i don't know if it will stay there yet, or if I'm going to put it on the main page instead.

December 13th
-Just signing in quickly to say that on December 16th onwards, this site will be down because my cousin is moving his stuff from Waterloo back to his family's place (and I will also staying with them for the holidays) so the site should be back up by the 25th hopefully. If it isn't, it should be back up by New Year's. I don't know what's going to happen with the newsletter for December yet, but as of right now, I am still planning on sending it out. I will still (hopefully) update this site even while it is down, but not as often of course since it is the holidays, and when the site goes back up, I will load all the new updates onto the site. Also, we are (Vm1 and I) planning on buying a domain name or something...we're still not sure. We do know however that we (as in the site) will be moving in June, as dhs.org is going to start costing money, and we might as well get our own domain name if it comes to that.

December 12th
-YES! The review for Open Your Eyes has been posted...I'm so glad I got to post it before I watch Vanilla Sky so that my views of this one are uncorrupted...be warned, the review doesn't contain much info on the movie because there is not much you can actually say without giving something away. There is a page within the review that you can go to for other details that I wanted to put in my review but couldn't because it would give stuff away... ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THIS MOVIE SHOULD VISIT THIS PAGE. (later on, this page will also be a comparison page for Vanilla Sky and Open Your Eyes) I've had a quick look at some reviews and once again, some ratings have been lowered/raised.

December 11th
-Trivia was updated today and half of the Open Your Eyes review was finished. I'm desperate to finish it before the remake (Vanilla Sky) comes out on Friday. And I will be VERY pissed if it is rated R here in Canada, I've been waiting for this film for a while, please let it be rated AA...I've also seen L.A. Confidential so expect a review for that coming soon too...

December 8th
-The Vertical Limit review has been added, I've seen Abre Los Ojos, and that'll most likely be the next review up...however, I have two projects and math to do tomorrow, so I may not get it up too soon...Maybe I might do it later tonite, we'll see. I also changed the stars (as in, the pics for the stars for the movie ratings)...the color schemes for the reviews were switched around a bit too, and changed.

December 7th
-I was planning on updating this page today, HOWEVER...I got movies out instead, so those are the movies I will be reviewing before the ones that were listed here on the last update (yesterday-see below) The ones that will now be reviewed before (most likely) will be Scream, Shanghai Noon, (seen both already) Open Your Eyes (Abre Los Ojos)-the movie Vanilla Sky coming out on the 14th is based on, Vertical Limit, Hollow Man, The Emperor and the Assassin, and L.A. Confidential (been meaning to see Confidential for a long time)

December 6th
-I'd just like to update everyone on what's going on...me and my bro now have "time slots" for when we get on the comp cuz we fight so much 'bout it, so don't worry if I don't post for a couple days...I have finished inputting some of the Princess Mononoke piano music into Noteworthy Software, and have made it into a midi...this midi file should appear on the main index page soon...what reviews can you expect? The Sixth Day, Antitrust, Sleepy Hollow, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Gladiator, Fantasy Mission Force, The Mask of Zorro...these are the ones I am thinking about currently, although that may not necessarily mean they will be next, just that these are the ones I am going to work on unless I go see a movie or something...The bio has been updated a bit too...

December 5th
-Nothing really today...two nites ago, the other person officially joined my webring, yeah! So, now if anyone else wants to, remember, you're more than welcome to... According to my cousin Vm1, my Grave of the Fireflies review is my best yet, so if you'd like to check it out...it is my first one written in that kind of format, and I think I will do more reviews like it (only for movies that evoke big emotions in me of course) although not often. Anyway, I can see that I am slowly but always learning to review better... (look at the Laputa or Saving Silverman review-the early reviews, the ones that i did in August when this site was started, and now look at my newer reviews like Grave of the Fireflies, Traffic, and Driven...major differences...)

December 2nd
-Today I did for the first time, THREE REVIEWS in one day!! I FINALLY finished the Driven review which I have been promising since October 12th, and I did the A Knight's Tale review. Although both are a bit short, they are still longer than my TF&TF review. I also finished Grave of the Fireflies review, which is pretty long. Also, Averill has joined my webring! YEAH! Two people so far, and another one coming (hopefully)...not much else done besides fixing one or two things here and there.

December 1st
-I went to Deep last nite, and just got back...the October/November updates were moved to the archive. (you can see it below) I am not going to use Topica anymore for the newsletters; i'm just going to send it out directly thru Hotmail. However, you still SUBSCRIBE to me via Topica on the Newsletter page. To unsubscribe, all you have to do is send a message to jcphoenixentertainment@hotmail.com, and in the subject line say UNSUBSCRIBE. The index page music has been taken off until my comp gets its sound card working again...it stalls my crap computer becuz there is something wrong with my sound card. The only thing I did today was put revise the entire About Me section to a new format, and add a Shout Outs page...check it out to see if your name is there...however, i had to do it very quickly so i'll add the one or two i missed later... I'm finally going to start work on the revised bio i promised in August.
