OLD UPDATES

04.29.03. yet again, we were gone...but this time for 3 entire months. i'm sorry for the long time away, mainly because of kiwanis music festival, AND lunchbox theatre (i directed a play), AND our big school play marvin's room (which i assistant stage managed for). however, i'm back, things are starting to fall back into place, etc...jr's going to post his anticipated 2003 movies list soon, as will i. i also have a TON of reviews i have to do or input in for movies like identity, the hours, road to perdition, two towers, talk to her, far from heaven, gangs of new york, the ring, confessions of a dangerous mind, and many more. so expect more updates coming soon. meanwhile, i've done a review for frailty to keep you contented for now.

01.20.03. sorry about the long time with no updates, but we're getting back on track. my top 10 of 2002 has been revised again, and jr's review of star trek: nemesis was loaded in a week or two ago. jr has loaded in his reviews for lotr: the two towers, and catch me if you can, and i have loaded in my review of catch me if you can. my reviews of far from heaven and talk to her coming soon, and the golden globe award winners and thoughts will be posted up when i have the time.

12.09.02. jr's review of treasure planet is up. also, the ratings system has been changed to just one overall rating for each movie, instead of a plot and entertainment rating.

12.05.02. i (jc) have loaded my review of die another day in.

11.27.02. jr has loaded in his review of the ring.

11.19.02. jr has loaded in his review of harry potter and the chamber of secrets.

11.15.02. vm1, our now officially, special 'guest' reviewer has loaded in his sparkling review for spirited away.

11.12.02. reviews from jr for red dragon and 8 mile were loaded in today. reviews for Harry Potter 2 coming soon, as well as for the James Bond flick, Die Another Day.

10.14.02. reviews by jc were added for rules of attraction and barbershop. jr's review of red dragon coming soon.

10.06.02. i haven't updated in a while, but i'm back...the posters were all changed slightly for all the review pages...before they were all 250 x 180 pixels, but now they are 250 x 167 pixels each, so that they represent the original poster's intent more. I have 9 movies from 2002 I have seen but haven't reviewed yet that will be done soon hopefully: the good girl, john q, we were soldiers, not another teen movie, panic room, count of monte cristo, frailty, 40 days & 40 nights, and lilo & stitch, and I will be watching barbershop soon. + expect some reviews of older classics after that like schindler's list, the usual suspects, and the godfather.

09.23.02. jr's reviews for changing lanes and salton sea were loaded in a couple days earlier, as well as his reviews for panic room and death to smoochy.

09.11.02. skipping a day, since yesterday i had math homework, i did my one hour photo review today. it goes wide on friday, so those of you who haven't seen it yet...see it.

09.09.02. wow, i'm on a roll. 3 reviews, one for each day so far. today's review was an early look at spirited away, coming sep 13 in lim. release to la/ny (though i watched the original japanese version, and not the dubbed version). tomorrow will hopefully bring my early review for one hour photo, which goes wide this friday.

09.08.02. got the time machine finally reviewed as well. this weekend is turning out to be a good one for the site. might have more updates tonight.

09.07.02. again, slowly getting back into the hang of things. i finally finished my long delayed review of the mothman prophecies, and you can check it out in the reviews section.

09.06.02. sorry for the delay between updates, i'll start getting back into it - my internet was down for over a week. anyway, my own review for signs, as well as jr's fantastic review of s1m0ne were uploaded earlier. jr's dvd review of blade 2 was just loaded in today. expect my long belated reviews for we were soldiers, john q, and mothman prophecies out soon.

08.15.02. added JR's review of Signs, as well as his and my reviews of Goldmember. My review of Signs will be out shortly.

07.31.02. not much today, did a new random scribbles section to the left, updated the box-office stuff, and started working on my mothman prophecies and austin powers 3 reviews.

07.20.02. today i posted a review for reign of fire. from me, you can expect reviews coming up to include my long delayed review of mothman prophecies, and reviews for shallow hal, american beauty, almost famous, and the royal tenenbaums.

07.10.02. i [jc] changed my top ten list of 2001 today, as i saw donnie darko, which was fabulously dark, and vm1 and jr both have reviews out for men in black 2, which you can check out in the movie reviews section.

07.07.02. major site updates...the movie reviews section and articles/views sections are now fully up. jc's top ten of 2001 has been revised. as well a gigantic amount of new reviews were loaded in: from jr kingston -orange county, the shipping news, minority report, i am sam, the majestic, a beautiful mind, the bourne identity, lilo & stitch, undercover brother, and way of the gun. from jc -bourne identity, minority report, mulholland dr, and vanilla sky.

06.27.02. grand opening of filmview (originally jcphoenix entertainment). the reason the site was not being updated for a while was because the team all had exams. i designed this new layout to make it compatible with 800x600 users. the e-news section has also been wiped out for now though news will occasionally appear on the main page. a new option however will be a box office report every week (hopefully).

Updates from the old site

June 22nd
-It's been quite a while since I last worked on this site and that's because I've had exams etc...anyway, I did see Mothman Prophecies and Minority Report, and reviews for those should be in soon...in fact, I did write a review for Minority Report already yesterday, but unfortunately, my comp crashed before I actually saved it so...also, JR and Vm1 have seen it as well and reviews for it will be coming in from them very soon. I finally uploaded the newsletter back onto the newsletter section, and updated some small things like putting in posters for the anticipated movies sections. BIG NEWS: we are going to have to move this site as dhs.org will start costing money by July 14th. We will most likely be changing our name to something more general (probably FILMVIEW). I'll keep you posted on the developments.

June 5th
-Just signing in to say that the newsletter was sent out last night and will be posted here sometime this week or next week. You can also expect a review from JR for From Hell coming soon, as well as a review for American Beauty from me, coming soon. Meanwhile, I have changed a couple of the movie posters for the movies to better posters...or in some cases, I found a rarer poster for a movie and used it instead of the more common one. The four I changed were: 10 Things I Hate About You, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Behind Enemy Lines, and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. The main logo at the left hand bottom corner has been changed, as well as the logo for the entertainment news section. As well, Vm1 did a review today for Attack of the Clones.

June 4th
-I've finally done a review for The Score, after a ten day break from doing reviews. Expect more reviews to come in later this week (hopefully), but the week after may not see very many, as exams are going to start then. I'm hoping the newsletter will be sent out later tonight, but don't count on it.

June 2nd
-I'm just signing in to say why I am not seeing as many movies as I saw last year...first of all, I am a teenager, have no job, and not a whole lot of money, so I don't see that many movies. Secondly, I would have been able to see fifty movies with all the money I have spent on dvds this year...I got a dvd player at x-mas, and so this year most of my money has went to dvds, and is gonna go to dvds for movies such as A Beautiful Mind, Resident Evil, American Beauty, and Spider-Man. I'm sort of catching up on several years' worth of dvds. Anyway, after this year, I should be back to the same rate as last year as I'll have bought all the older dvds I need to have in my collection, and then I will only need to buy newer stuff that I really really liked. The newsletter will be sent out sometime this coming week, but I've just been simply too lazy to work on it.

May 29th
-JR's review for Insomnia has been posted. I went to BANDWARS last night at my school, and the band I was cheering for with two friends, Shane and Matt, won! They, along with fellow bandmembers Alex and Jordan, got a hundred bucks which they are going to put into their savings for a recording of a demo at a studio. The band is called Minus Human (formerly known as 10 Pounds), and a profile, along with one of their songs will be posted on the website later on.

-Several updates today by me (JC). Another batch of movie news was posted today, including a picture of the costume for Daredevil coming 2003, in the entertainment news section, as well as a quick note about the Spider-Man dvd in the DVD News section. The trivia was finally updated, and a review for Dark City was added by me. I did not get to see Insomnia as the the theatres were all playing at bad times for my friend and I, so I am postponing that until only God knows when. However, JR, as far as I know is seeing it, so look forward to a review by him for it. While I didn't get to see Insomnia, my friend and I rented some older movies. While we didn't get to Airplane, Silence of the Lambs, or Reservoir Dogs as we didn't have time, I did get to see the Peter Sellers movie "The Party", Tomcats, Finding Forrester, and Pulp Fiction. Reviews for those should be up eventually, but I have a waiting list of movies that need to be reviewed badly, and there are about 30-40 of them there...Some of the reviews I still have to do include Ocean's 11, American Beauty, Very Bad Things, J&SBSB, L.A. Confidential, Bandits, and The Score, to name a very small fraction. And of course after I finish that whole entire list, I still have hundreds of movies archived in my head from before I was a movie buff, so review opportunities will pretty much be endless.

May 20th
-Just came back from TO a couple hours ago, and I got to meet JR on Saturday when we went to see Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. It was very cool to finally meet the third part of Team Phoenix, albeit the fact that he was ready to pulverize me after he couldn't find his top ten most anticipated up on the site...(it could also be because he spent $10 at an Internet cafe to see it as his computer is temporarily down) Anyway, reviews from both JR and me for Attack of the Clones are up in the movie reviews section, check them out.

May 14th
-Posted a bunch of news in the movie news subsection of the entertainment news section. As well, in that section you can also find the specs for A Beautiful Mind in the "DVD News" subsection, which I added yesterday. Currently, I am working on a review for Dark City, followed by a review for American Beauty, Bandits, and then The Score. Reviews for Star Wars: Attack of the Clones should come in from Vm1, JR Kingston, and me (JC) sometime next week as we are going to see it on Sunday (I finally get to meet JR!)...JR has seen the dvd for "The Others" (which I just bought less than an hour ago), as well as the dvd for From Hell, but unfortunately his computer is down for at least a week. Reviews for those should come in from him sometime late May.

May 13th
-The Entertainment News section was updated extensively, which you can check out. As well, the menu at the top has been slightly changed as you probably notice so that it's (hopefully) slightly easier to find. You can probably already see the new Updates logo above...

May 10th
-2 reviews by JR Kingston were posted today for The Boondock Saints and Ocean's 11, just out on dvd a while ago. I am going to try and give the entertainment news section a fresher look, and it should be up by the end of this weekend.

May 6th
-4 movie reviews were posted today, a Spider-Man review from J.R. Kingston which he had sent me on Saturday, as well as my own reviews for Spider-Man, Behind Enemy Lines, and Se7en. J.R. Kingston's ten anticipated movies of 2002 have also been posted, and the entertainment news section will be updated soon (a quick newsflash was posted). As well, we may soon have a music column for our site...we'll see (see the last two entries in the guestbook if u'd like to know why)

May 2nd
-The trivia section and front page trivia was updated today...Also, a review for Behind Enemy Lines is my next review to do, followed closely by the Spider-Man review, which should be up Saturday or Sunday (as I'm seeing this Saturday).

May 1st
-The newsletter, which I worked my butt off on for around two hours was sent out, and should be in all inboxes by now. It has also been posted here in the newsletter section.
