Guybrush Threepwood sails the sea's in a dodgem from his previous encounter with LeChuck in the Carnival of the Damned. As he is sailing he drifts to Plunder Island and finds the evil zombie pirate himself battling with Elaine. During the battle, Guybrush inadvertently destroys LeChuck and afterwards, proposes to Elaine with a huge diamond ring found from LeChucks Treasure hold. But it turns out stealing from LeChuck was a bad idea because the ring is cursed and it turns Elaine into a solid gold statue. Guybrush now has to find a way to break the curse and stop LeChuck from marrying Elaine. So begins the Curse of Monkey Island.
