Information About the Positions
Small Claims Center(SCC) Counselors: After being trained via the Internet and the official manual, you will provide advice to readers and members of FLAN Online regarding the small claims court procedures of New York City (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx).
Chat Moderator for Online Discussions: You will be in charge of creating topics of discussion, emailing the members of the Future Lawyers Alliance Network and FLAN Online to schedule a convenient time, then sending an email again to confirm the scheduled time. Chat events must be held once a month. These events must last for a duration of, at least, one hour.
Staff Writer: All writers are required to submit at least one article per issue. The topics that a writer can cover will be based on the person's personal choice or an agreement between the editor and writer. This entry level position allows novice and experienced writers to improve their grammar and research skills.
Public Relations Officer: The PR Officer will be responsible for promoting the FLAN Online website on the web and in various communities (e.g. college campuses, jobs, churches, local neighborhoods). **After accepting this position you will be sent via postal mail a marketing plan package**
Advertising Manager: The ads manager's job is to raise revenue for the FLAN Online's sponsor (The Future Lawyers Alliance Network). The ads manager is required to contact websites and send them, via email, information about our website and ads information. The ads manger will receive a small commission (5%)for their efforts--the more companies that you contact the more money you receive.
Assistant Editor: The assistant editor's job is to help the Editor-in-Chief edit the submitted articles. That's all!!
Columnist: After submitting 2 solid articles to FLAN Online, you can request your own column. You can create a column similar to the Activist. The only requirement is that you are consistent--unlike the Activist. The column must be featured on a monthly basis.
Managing Editor: The job of the managing editor is to assist the Editor-in-Chief with the layout of the newsletter. The requirement is to conduct online and library research (topics can include Java, HTML etc.)on how the site can be improved.
