Two Basuritas sets was released throughout the Argentine Republic around 1988 and 1989. It is unknown at this time which South American country held the license and distribution rights for the different international Garbage Pail Kids releases, besides the Stani Company (Productos Stani) for Argentina, but there are several similarities between all three original Spanish releases for Argentina, Chile and Uruguay from the late '80s and their Industria Argentina, Salo and Industria Uruguaya manufacturing companies, respectively. Both Editora Aladino, S.A. and Salo, S.A. produced the albums for Argentina and Chile, respectively, but it is unknown what company produced the Uruguay stickers. The adhesive stickers, needing moisture, measure slightly smaller than 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches, similar in size to U.S. trading cards, meant to be stuck down in numerical locations within the accompanied sticker album. A majority of the stickers were non-die cut, but several were die cut. ~ |

In 2000, the Industria Argentina company manufactured a new set of Basuritas titled 'Basuritas and Monsters', which also covered non-GPK, supplemental material; it is unknown what company held the license, but it may have been Fabrica Cromos S.H. The set spans characters from the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th U.S. Series sets, not in any particular order. The stickers measure 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches, and are non-die cut stickers. The Argentina set, a direct reproduction of the Chilean release from 1999, has a great gloss finish with a new red border as well as a chase card set and holochrome chase card set that measure 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. In 2001, this red-bordered set was re-released twice with minor changes and additions to the oringal release minus the impressive chase cards. No mention of Editora Aladino, S.A. ~ |
In 2002, the Industria Argentina company manufactured a new Basuritas set for Fabrica Cromos S.H. titled 'Basuritas 2' that was released with yellow-border stickers, measuring 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches and being non-die cut. The set introduced special 'Pog' cards to the franchise, a nice return to chase card material. In 2003, another Basuritas set titled 'Basuritas 3' was released by Industria Argentina for Fabrica Cromos S.H. with white-border stickers, measuring 2 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches and being non-die cut. The release introduced 'BUSCADO' chase cards to the franchise, a new twist to the popular 'WANTED' backs. No mention of Editora Aladino, S.A. for these later releases. ~ |
