The Encyclopaedia Britannica. It was originally published under the title- 'The Britannica-A Dictionary of Arts and Sciences'. Unable to meet the expenses of updating and publishing what had grown into a 20-volume set in 1810, they sold it to Americans Horace Hooper and Walter Jackson.
