Dearest evil rei, I do believe that is polaroid camera is just a novelty item...because I like taking pictures...but you should
seriously consider getting a DVD player...its a worthwhile investment considering all the references you can get from the
movies ( not to mention its just plain enjoyment to watch movies at home at your own time ). Heck, you can even freeze
frame by frame to check for movie mistakes. Just save up for say 2 or 3 months and get a player, then take your time
to buy whatever dvd you want or order them from amazon. My father recommends yamaha's dvd player which is
multi-coded, meaning it plays all region, at bout 300 plus. I might even be able to ask for a discount. How's that ? :)

But there's nothing to be ashamed about I suppose, for I myself am highly susceptible to glossy magazine
covers and nice books, some of which have manifestly no apparent use for me other than looking really nice
themselves. Maybe what I mean is we sometimes just buy something because it really does look real good
( or irresistable for that matter).

On the other hand, Polaroid going kaboom might not be such a bad thing...we could keep our camera's as

in the past, i ve a enemy to death. it s gossip. i hated it like fire hates water, there could be no reconcile. and i had forgotten since when my hatred harbored. but it always makes me wants to kill.

i have tried to promote the book 'the little prince' to P relentlessly somewhile ago, but P simply claims to dislike reading. recently, P finally read the book. i feel so pleased as if it s some sorta achievement, especially when P likes it and use the word 'enchanting' to describe the reading experience. but on the other hand, i m oso kinda bitter that P was able to find such a good word to describe the experience, for i ve long been searching for such a word, ever since my 1st reading, but in vain.
i got very interested in this book when my brother told me abt the beginning of the book, many years after he read it (in his secondary skool days!!!). we used to share with each other abt such things (movies,books,comics), even until now that we arent living together, and it remains a mystery to me why he would only ve told me abt the existence of this book until 3 years ago. perhaps, he did told me long ago but i din pay attention to it?
motivated by my success with P (and what a shameless claim to make), i read the book again today. usually i only read bits and pieces of it again. i also took some effort to put up the beginning of 'the little prince', hoping that it may also interest some of u to read the book, just like it once did to me.

din live up to my expectation.probably the effect of my medication still makes me lousy. probably i am not in the right mood watching it. the much hyped gore and violence din ve that much effect cos of the faky gunshots wounds and makeup (not that it s substandard makeup werk, jus that nowsday i m so accustomed to well crafted hollywood movie, something jus dun look right in an effect and the whole thing looks cheap). well, there is some twist and plot and some msg behind all this violence but it just dun ve much impact on me, unlike films like 'fight club', 'clockwork orange' or 'natural born killer'.

jus read abt the korean film industry growth ... so according to this report, it s during 1997 crisis, investors got $ in their hands no where to put (i jus cant understand this economy thing, crisis can be got $ and can be no $) and it happened that there is a 20-30% profit for some investors on a few movies, which seemed to be good return in that sorta time. coupled with the success in international film festivals, the industry took off.
sounds like so easy like tat ... maybe it s jus abt being the right guy, in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.

[JSA, Joint Security Area]
watched the movie JSA, although it is not without flaws, but i like it because of the genuine effort to tell a story, despite the temptation to adopt a big budget hollywood style (when it did have a much bigger budget than most korean films).
b4 JSA, there r already a few more korean films that became box office sucesses, and the korean movie industry came to life. the same happened in thailand around the same period too. this happens when the economy is real bad. entertainment is supposed to be 1 of those to be affected most easily. but in those countries ppl are still investing in their movie industry? that i can still read reports of movie industry in korea and thailand blooming in times of econs crisis, makes me wonder again what factors really contribute to the growth of movie industry?
it is just 1 or 2 good films that kick start the whole industry in those 2 countries and everything spins, whatever the economy. but din we have 'money no enough' some time ago? makes me wonder what really makes the difference ... pls dun tell me it is just because this is sing-ah-po-lar.

[mirror on my office table]
ever since i placed a car rear mirror on my table in the office, it has surprisingly generated quite a few enquiries from colleagues on its purpose. it seems that it is a very strange thing to do, esp when my back is facing the wall. it really caught me by surprise when i was 1st asked why i placed a mirror on my desk, because i never even think that i would have to explain the obvious reason for doing so.

of course, there is also a not-so-obvious reason that most true animators would know.

no man is an island, thus the constant need for a reason for things u do and to explain it again & again to ppl. esp if u r someone who are prone to doing not-so-common things, or simply has a little weird part in you (but then again, there seems always a little weirdness in everyone, maybe that s what makes us individually special ?). to be diplomatic, i gear myself operation ready with reasons for situations as such, setting a target of under 3 seconds to reply, in the most relaxed composure possible.

in my unprofessional opinion, this need to understand something and someone different seems to be inborn to all. on a negative and rather micro aspect, it leads to lunchtime gossips/discussions, while on a broader aspect, it leads to studies in animal species and space exploration. knowledge is power, be it used simply for manupilating people, or world domination.

i myself know it well. when i was a kid, i always asked my parents very loudly in public: 'why are all indians so smelly wan?', embarassing them much, i believed. of course, such insensitivity/curiosity (??) of a child can be easily forgiven. but as an grown up, this may be read as 'racism', 'prejudice', 'ignorance' or 'kepo-ism' ?
