ksf came out with the song for 世界停下来 liaoz. coz i never meant to write it as song lyrics, the sentences & paragraph are too short & not well-crafted, it s a tough job for her to sing. any shortcomings would be on my part. i ll go back to try add & rephrase some lyrics. but it ll still be cheesy mandarin pop content ... too bad. anyway, this s just for the fun of it :P

some music T-Rex wrote for some chinese lyrics/poem (not good enough to qualify as either one ) i did. i m surprised to discover my fren ksf not only sings very well but also writes pretty neat mandarin songs/lyrics. thus it prompted me to dig out those old stuffs i wrote & also show her these 3 pieces T-Rex did.

& yes, it s still 1 of deepest regret not to be musically inclined. but then again, maybe it s just that i never put in any effort to pick it up? ahhhhh ... see.

finally delivered this recent project after abt 8 full days of work. although this s not as well paid or high profile as the past projects, it gives the rare personal satisfaction as well as client 's appreciation. somehow there s less of this transaction kinda feeling like past projects, not just coz the clients are my frens, but i feel proud of the final product & like it very much.

i m more determined to break away from overly tedious & complex style, after i get done with KITE, if i ever get it done. haha. i know this all along but keep straying from what i believe in right when i get started on animation. too much technical headaches just takes all the fun away.

not sure whether i can really put it up online but i like it a lot & i want to show.

i ve got nothing to say. i dont know how this could ve happen in my real life. this s suppose to be one problem robert mckee pointed out on scriptwriting enthusiatics, that they read too little & thus know too little & thus got nothing to say in their story.

for this to happen to me in life ... manzzzz ... i ve an awful lot to say but manzzz how come i get so tongue tied everytime. it isnt like that in the beginning ... i need to take a deep breath & a step back to ponder a little while.

i ve finished a recent animation project, I-Combat 2015, which part of a DSO exhibition, Defence Science Matters. just saw the ad in today 's papers the exhibition will begin 14th jun to 10th august in Singapore Science Center, after much delay due to SARS.

it was done at the time when US was using those hi tech weaponry dropping lotsa bombs onto Iraq daily. i wasnt very ethusiastic on this kinda war mecha kinda animation, & feeling even less so working on an animation to glorify their might. but then again i m paid to do my job so i still put in my best effort within the usual practical constraints.

click on above image to see more views. over a long period of time (how long? me also dunnoe liaoz ...), much modifications has been done to didi to make him more chubby & appealing. also, due to slight plot change, a lot rework has been put into his oversized shorts. i find it more natural for him to hold it infront. strings have been added to the shorts as a plot device.

however, i m not v satisfied with how i build the shorts. i messed up the texturing too. not sure how it ll hold up during close-ups. but it s hard to go bck & fix it now. i m also not sure if his holding of the oversized shorts is convincing enough. it s pretty tedious to fake the folds with texturing.

i m still pretty stressed over the animation of his oversized shorts. esp now that in service to the story line, the shorts got to be tightened by the strings on it, posing another technical problem. although thankx to T-Rex 's suggestion (again), the knot-tying sequence can be made easier with editing, i still feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work at hand. i ll try not to ve anything to do with cloth simulation in my future production.

the only consolation for the hot season is the more than usual number of beautiful sunsets at my place.
