yesterday i bought what i set out to get, the finding nemo dvd, as well as what i didnt intend to get, the lee kuan yew at 80 book, which comprises of 80 selected quotes from his life & photos of him in memorable events.

this quote i picked to show here is not my favourite. just that i thought it s something i wont expect from him, a little more funny than the rest of the quotes. but it s definitely reflects how deeply he understands a small nation can be easily affected by the smallest turn of events in the super powers.

When elephants fight, it 's the grass that gets trampled. But when elephants make love, the grass will suffer even more.

nowsaday, kids staying in my block like to hang around outside my house, whenever we leave the door open. reason: my sis 's pet pup creamy. she is such a kid-magnet, i ve no idea how news has travelled in my block that kids from different storeys come visit at our door to play with creamy. if only she s a babe-magnet as well & attract some cute gals. then there was also this brief thought of charging a fee for playing with creamy... well, just a thought though.

my idol SM Lee dont like MTV & cant understand why his younger generation simply love it so much. but at least that s the reason for him to be 80 years old. as open minded as i can be, i dont ve much love for that culture MTV stands for too, or should i say i dont relate to it at all. although being in the creative line, i do enjoy certain works shown there. & i do know ppl who dislike MTV for their commercialise approach. so maybe that s the true reason for my case too? maybe afterall it s whatever residue of anti-establishment sentiments in me that try to distant myself as a more tasteful class?

whatever the reason, i hope age is never my reason haha!

there will be a day when plastic surgery processes become as simple & little risk as dyeing our hair. when that day arrives, would you be tempted to alter those parts of your body you arent satisfied with?

i ve seen the before & after photos of a jap girl who went through plastic surgery & did miracles to her face. according to the reports, minor alternations do not even require surgerical operations nowsaday. in china, vouchers for cosmetic surgery are presented to newly weds as wedding gifts. when the hazards are lower & the processes get easier, ppl would be more willing to give it a try. to many, it may be a rebirth for them, a new leash of life. looking at it superficially, there also dont seem to be any serious ethical issues involved, or so it seems.

could it be possible that there ll not be anymore ugly ppl in the future? i used to feel ridiculous about ppl who dye their hair. now i ve done it myself too. didnt give much of a thought about it. that s why i dare not make a firm stand denoucing ppl going for plastic surgery. of course, at this moment, it s an impossible thought for me to do it. all that vanity in me cant make me do so. to me, it s risky & expensive & i can live with what my parents ve given me (as well as those that developed afterwards). not to forget the unfortunate case of meg ryan. but when it gets as easy as changing my hair colour, would i change my mind?

sick creamy in a funnel

but now her ordeal is over already. she s recovered, no longer need the funnel anymore. in order to avoid the misperception that i m remotely an animal lover, i usually refrained myself from posting my snaps on sis 's pet pup. no, this s not an act of self-denial.

there is this trailer on channel 8 of the current affairs programme 'jiao dian' (focus), in which a little school boy said something abt "i ve to pass this examination, because if i don't, my life will be ruined".

is it the parents or the school that teach him this? school kids like him sure needs to be told urgently that is an absolute lie. yes, you be in deep shit if u don't pass the exam but no, your life is not ruined just like that. just a setback in one phrase of your life don't mean you lose it all. what kinda man will he grow up to be to believe in this lie. why would any parents want their son to form such an outlook of life at this age.
