i haven't been exercising much in the last few weeks, so i went for a late evening jog. only the usual uncle joggers were at the stadium. on my way home, i thought of how it s going to be a lonesome new year's eve at home.
while i was waiting for the lift, a pizza hut delivery man showed up, with a shoulder sling bag & another one in his hand. he has got this apologetic smiling look & kept looking at the piece of paper in his hand inside the lift. i assumed he was checking the address. that was also the first time i ve got a close look of that special delivery bag in the TVC, which is supposed to keep the pizzas warm.
as i got out of the lift, i thought it isn't that bad for me afterall. at least i m not out there delivering pizzas, or for that matter working my ass off, on new year's eve. maybe i should just attempt one & only one, simpler but important resolution this time. i.e. for the new year ahead, i shall learn to look at things, as well as at myself, more so in the good way. :: daydreamer 12/31/2003 11:13:00 PM [+]

i ve just finished Battle Royale, the translated version of the jap novel. once again, my bro has recommended me a good read. i am not very excited to start on the book, when my bro lent it to me at first, coz i am not too impressed with the movie version last time i watched. maybe i m in the wrong mood but i don't empathise with the characters in that situation where they are forced to kill each other. i just had an absurd feeling throughout. & the graphic violence is supposed to shock (?) but probably it s too badly done & ended up cheap & faky.
thus it is even more a mystery how come the book worked out so well on me. the movie has been largely faithful to the book, except minor changes. why did i like the book better? maybe the book tell more of each character 's background & mentality before he/she ends up in a fight & get killed? in the movie there isnt much screen time for the smaller roles to make any impression. i think it also helps that i don't remember most of the plot from the movie when i m reading it.
i heard of Battle Royale 2 the movie, which is about how the surviving couple in the 1st movie fights back the government. unfortunately, it is not in the cinemas here. i wonder if it s good enough for me to put some money on its dvd. :: daydreamer 12/21/2003 02:14:00 AM [+]
