thanks to my sis 's bf, i got it at S$570 without a line & trade in. since my last hp is a prehistoric one, it is a big jump for me to this latest hi tech toy. nevertheless, i m very pleased now.

yesterday i heard on the tv news (i always only listen to tv news coz i would be working in my room while my mum watches it), that the pay range of a domestic cleaner is S$900 - S$1300. the government thinks locals have not changed their prejudice against working as a cleaner, even though the job nature has greatly evolved towards automation & mechanisation.

well, i definitely don't want to pretend to be politically correct to say that children should write in their compositions, abt how they aspire to be a cleaner when they grow up. however, i do not look down on cleaners, or any other decent jobs ppl has to do to feed themselves. the thing is, i know of fresh grads cg artists/animators actually getting that kinda pay from local companies, maybe slightly more. what good is a diploma in our line? worst, their hours can be even longer sometimes (actually many times). for the sake of impulsive argument, maybe the same fresh grad can get a better pay with his diploma as a cleaner? anyway, it seems more respectable & professional now that words like 'automation' & 'mechanisation' can be associated with it.

so, a job as a cleaner, anyone?

i am not the kind who like to change hp all the time. really thrifty on this kind of gadgets. so quite embarassingly, i m still holding on to a 8250. but i know all hp makers are evil. they put evil devices in their hp so that they ll not last more than 2 yrs & you ll ve to upgrade. like all other appliances they made nowsadays, gone are those lasting durable products we used to get in my dad 's times, which can be as old as myself in the house.

& yes, all that longwinded yakking ... my hp is breaking down ... it is dying. the battery always get drained off easily after fully charged. it shutted itself down yesterday when i try to call out or message, even the batt indicator still shows there is power. it is not faulty battery coz i used 3 different ones.

the thing is my sis has bought a hp for under special promotion for my mum, under my name sometime ago. i still ve until october before i can upgrade. so i ll ve to pay full price for a new set now. my bro is coming for his weekly visit later, let s hope i can get him to help me on this. hopefully his contract should be served out long enough to upgrade.

i went to browse at the latest hps at M1 yesterday. they are all jam packed with hi-end functions which i m not sure i ever need. except 7200, the nokia hps seemed to lose their edge in superb product design already. 7610 looks quite ok but kinda bulky. i think the motorola clamshells series has got more attractions. so far V600 appeals to me most in terms of look & price tag. i like MPX200 but a tad too ex to me. plus i ve a feeling i m paying extra for functions i will not use at all.

the other brands i am not sure if their user interface is as convenient as nokia. i heard siemens sucks but i ve not tried any before. i wonder if they ve all improved on the user interface to the same level as nokia so it shouldn't be of any concern at all. i already ve too much to learn on my 3d softwares. thus everytime i ve this tendency to feel tired going through manuals of new gadgets i buy haha.

all these sophiscated gadgets we invented. it can be so draining on the brain when i need to decide on one.

拜六礼拜会不会开?

after making all the mrt passengers in sg suffer the irritating verse again & again, i think we deserve a good show in the trends of Jack Neo. but The Best Bet is nowhere the standard of Jack 's best movies.

although i enjoy artsy fartsy film eg eternal sunshine on the spotless mind (which i watched today after best bet), i thought highly of jack 's past movies. esp I Not Stupid. i know this new film won't match I Not Stupid, which is funny as well as have something to say. i only expect it to funny like Money No Enough. i really laughed from begin to end in that show. not so for The Best Bet. i understand the ridiculous plot twist is due to the reaction from test audience who wanted a happy reunion for a JAck Neo movie, so i let that go. but even if he has followed the original darker plot i don't see much potential in it.

aside from some funny hokkien dialogues, it is a letdown to me. probably coz his last 2 shows was more impressive & raise my expectation tad too high. nevertheless, Jack Neo is a v creative person & i hope his next movie will be better.

good that i enjoyed Eternal Sunshine. too bad i was too tired & fell asleep in the beginning when the plot is still confusing & pacing slow. but it s really worth watching.

i visited the World Chinese Book Fair yesterday coz i m out too early for Harry Potter. i used to visit the Fair annually until few years ago. i still remember local comic artists would release their new works the same time & the long queues for autographing. since i m those cheena kind, the book fair is something to look forward to, esp in my student days.

unfortunately, yesterday 's visit was disappointing. maybe it s towards the end of the book fair. i can't find much that interest me. i went ard looking for comics but only found 王展鸣 's booth selling nothing else but 'celestrial zone' comics (to me, he is publishing this comic series as an evidence of his stagnant drawing skills after so many years in the trade). when it has become boring, i started looking out for babes. only then i realised there were mostly uncles & aunties around. i dont even need to guess that the small number of younger ppl present are from china.

in my skool days, we only say 'chinese language is dying'. but now i think
'chinese language is dead' in singapore. the government is helpless in their efforts against the tide of things. & our economy will be losing its competitiveness soon too. China 's rising economy may be able to save the day but we won't be able to catch this new train on time. our young ppl can't hold proper conversation with them & i wonder if there ll be money lost in business coz they can't understand the contract well haha. no matter what government say or do now in useless. that s the way things will go.

maybe we can only pray that US will stay economically sound till the end of time. & in return, we ll have to support them in every Iraq war they will wage.
