Greetings!! This site, when finally organized will contain a varied selection of my original music, music from groups and projects i've been involved in, pictures of cool places i've been to, detailed descriptions of the tools I use and the creative processes involved both musically and technically.  For now, click on the file download prompts to get mp3 files of the music. If you need a mp3 music file player, go to the " favorite links " page for a link to a free mp3 player download site. In the coming days I am going to try to arrange the file downloads so that they relate to the pictures they are closest to. Icarus photos with icarus songs and home studio photos surrounded by home studio songs and so on and so on..........

The mp3 download above is a tribute to Jim my guitar playing/singing friend and co member of  Icarus and other bands over the course of  twenty years. He and his family moved to Vegas a couple of years ago so he is now a fulltime musician. In this song, I played all the parts on keyboards including drum pattern programming

Welcome!

The mp3 download below is my take on a European dance club kind of vibe. Yeah,, I know i'm trippin. Thanks to Jim for the real guitar playing on this track.

The file download below is of a bunch of recordings I call experimental music. It was done using pattern based synths I use along with my drum machine controlled by a midi clock signal coming from a Roland a-70 keyboard controller. On top of all that i'm playing a Roland x-p80 that is split with bass on left and vibes/voices on the right. Plus, a Alesis QSR is midied to the controller for piano sounds. I'll be posting more of these experiments later on so you can get an ideal of the huge creative potential.

The file downloads above and below this text are of songs that I lost in a computer crash a while back. They were incomplete works with first take solos and all but I thought the basic ideals for each song  were solid enough for me to take these recordings I had and rebuild them someday. It's a good thing I usually record my new works and take them out and about to listen to, critique and make changes. Now I periodically back up the audio files either on cd or the other computer I use.

The mp3 file download above shows that  Glenn Cambell wasn't sacred to us three.Check out the string sound I was using at that time. It was made by twin rackmounted yamaha fb01 sound modules. Four opperator dx technology was never noted for is's string sounds.

This pictures below and above are of me w/Icarus playing at a yearly outdoor event here in Denver known as the peoples fair. At the time it was called the capitol hill peoples fair named after the community it was started in. Icarus was at the third one and the next and the next for many years straight. I played in another group that was at the very first one. Some years I played in more than one group at the event. Performing at outdoor events rocks and i've been fortunate enough to play at many throughout the years.

Picture above, Ahh,,,, my beloved micromoog. Still ready to rock, it waits in the closet on call. The vintage sounds this thing can make are actually high in demand today. That's my opinion but it's based on todays popular music.

This mp3 file download above is Icarus the three member version playing a Frank Zappa song. I'm doing left hand bass as usual. Jim, I have to add, is a serious Frank Zappa fan  much to the delight  of the people we've played to. Believe that ????

The mp3 download below is an example of music I do at the church I play at. I'm sorry I don't know the composer of "Lift Him Up".

The file download below is a song (home studio) I like for it's positive kind of feel. I also like using that sampled violin sound for the melody. It's a very well thought out factory sample  that came with the ESi sampler from EMU.

The file download below shows my love of using synthesised sounds as opposed to real instrument sounds. I like using synthesised sounds but  i'm not convinced listeners share my opinions on this. Too spacey. It sounds like aliens invading and so on and so on and shooby doobie doobie.

This picture below is of the reaggae band I played with in the nineties. Before that I played in a popular local brasillian group. I will try to post some examples of this era but i'm telling you now i'll be lucky to find anything. The bands i've been in that gigged regularly have not been seriously interested in recording , archiving or anything like that.

The mp3 download below is an example of me trying to use sampled loops. There are other examples of this on this page but I like how this one turned out the most. The sound effect in the middle of the song is poorly mixed but hey, I was in a hurry to put it up for listening. The original sound effect track was lost in a disk crash last year along with other stuff and i've been slow in finding the backups and restoring the data. Another story another time.

The file download above is a good ole rock and roll original of Jims that he and I did at my home studio some years ago. Some years ago by the way, means I don't remember exactly when. Check out the middle part where he asked me for something spacey.

This mp3 fle download below is of  a recording that came out of a audition at a local live music bar.  Icarus and friends is whats happening here with a bass player and sax player sitting in. Audition yes but the recording was our real motive. Especially since we never rehearsed together..!! For you sensitive listners , this was recorded in a live bar type setting so,,,,, there's two cuss words in there somewhere. For you not so sensitive listners, see if you can find them !!

Just a few words on the music on this page. I am a keyboard  player that plays both in my home studio and out live. Currently I enjoy the honor of  playing for a church here in Denver (CCF more later,,) and the home studio thing is good too with projects of my own and with others like Carol my ex.(more later). Except for the song "shakey ground", the live sampling with the sax player on it, there isn't a bass player. That music is from the band I was a member of  for the last fifteen or so years named Icarus. All my original short form songs and mostly all the stuff with Icarus (the three piece version with Jim and Steve) on all that music I play the bass part. Steve is the drummers name also I should add. With the group, I played the left hand on bass and right hand on keyboard stack.I've been doing it for a while as that old peoples fair picture of me with that little casio cz101 strapped to my left can attest to.In fact, I still do it to this day when I play in church. Also, a lot of the guitar sounds you hear, both acoustic and electric are not necessarily being played by Jim. If you hear singing , he's playing guitar too except for a couple of songs but a lot of the guitar sounds are keyboard.

The mp3 file download above is one of Jims originals. Six or seven years ago or so he came over to my place and laid down a acoustic guitar track on the new cakewalk pro audio music software I just got. That accounts for the inferior quality of the guitar track.I was just learning how to use it. I added the synth harmonica and string bass later. This song really shows the depth of Jims musicality.

Great view in the Tetons.

The mp3 file download below (no23) was the most downloaded song on a web page I had up a few years ago. It's a personel favorite of mine too.

The mp3 file download below  is another one of Jims original tunes. He gave me a tape of his guitar and vocal part and I added the other stuff.

My love for bluegrass music (being from western penna.) inspired the mp3 download below. I wanted to use all stringed instruments. Especially banjo. I still have yet to nail down that string bending beverly hillbillies kind of playing style but this was a first attempt at trying to sound like " the real thing".

The mp3 file downloads above and below this picture of my dearly departed dog and I on a walk in the Colorado mountains are songs I did to represent the sadness of her leaving and then the happiness she brought to me and the family. It's all me doing the parts including drum pattern programing.

Picture below: Four piece Icarus at some outdoor event. That's Mark up front and left playing bass as he was the forth member officially. It freed me up a lot when there was a bass player but when that wasn't possible, I didn't want that to keep  a full sounding ensemble from happening so  then began the left hand bass part playing.

The mp3 file download below is from an old studio effort by three piece icarus. To give you an idea how old, the name of the song, flight 25, came from this song being our tribute to the fallen astronauts in the twenty fifth space shuttle mission catastrophy. I think it was Jims song with a bit of help from Steve and I. I wonder if Jims thinking of another tribute to the recently fallen astronauts God bless them.

The mp3 file download above is another old studio effort by three piece icarus. Jim wrote this song and I think he placed in a songwriting contest with this entry if i'm not mistaken..

The mp3 flie download below is  another home studio song of mine inspired by changes in my life and my reaction to them.

The mp3 file download below is an example of music from the Brazillian band I was in in the late eighties early nineties. In this recording I was new in the band and the music was totally new to me. It was difficult to play with all kinds of chord changes and rhythym patterns to remember. Jazz was the closest thing to it that I could use as a foundation for understanding it all. It took me a while before I was truly comfortable with my role in the group but then the group changed format and I was history. It was a fun ride all considered.

The mp3 file download below is probably the kind of music going through my mind as I fished this colorado mountain lake. Earthy yet,,,,spacey!!??

The file download below is a song I did based on a common roland dr-770 drum pattern. Yes i'm not above that sometimes. I always question the source of inspiration but rarely the tools.

The file download below is a original song I did about  nine years ago. I think this is one of my earliest attempts at programming snare drum rolls into a drum part.
