12th Asian Racquetball Championships in Dae-Gu, South Korea

On Friday of the opening day of the 12th Asian Racquetball Championships, in Dae-Gu, South Korea, Francis Guzman who is making his first major championships debut, defeated Soong-Gi of Team Ulsan Korea at 11-10 / 3-11 / and 11-5. In the number 2 player pool men's singles event, Frank Rios suffered a tie-breaker loss against Keung of Team Ulsan Korea in a well fought out fight that lasted well over 45 minutes with awesome rallies and great dives. Keung defeated Frank Rios at 10-11 / 11-5 and 10-11. During one of the longest rallies, Frank Rios had a bad bump into Keung that might have effected his right ankle that was injured earlier during training on Guam. According to Frank Rios via internet, that he will be able to play the next round at 10:30a.m. Saturday morning along with Francis Guzman against Team Dae-Gu-B and then finally another match up at 6:00p.m. against Team Chun-Bak.
In the men's doubles event, Larry Angeles and Jess Sudo who is making his first major championships debut easily decimated Team Ulsan Korea i straight sets at 11-6 and 11-6. The women's doubles event featuring, Alysia Leon Guerrero and Lucy Cruz suffered their first tie-breaker loss against Team Korea at 8-11 / 11-6 and 8-11. According to team captain Francis Guzman, relayed that both women's doubles team of Guam and Korea had very long rallies and great put aways from both sides. The Guam ladies will be playing their next match on Saturday at 8:00a.m.

Day 2 and 3 of the 12th Asian Racquetball Championships

Day 2 of the 12th Asian Racquetball Championships, Francis Guzman is continuing with his winning streak along with Frank Rios in the men's singles event. Francis Guzman destroyed Team Chun-Bak in straight sets at 11-1 and 11-3. Frank Rios also won his singles event against Team Chun-Bak in straight sets at 11-7 and 11-2. In the mnen's doubles event, Guam's own men Angeles and Sudo had no problems with Team Chun-Bak winning two games at 11-5 and 11-6. The Guam ladies faced off against Team Korea University winning the tie-breaker match at 11-7 / 8-11 and 11-8. On the same day of 2nd match play which began at 10:30a.m., Team Guam vs. Dae-Gu-B. In the men's doubles event, the Guam boys faced little opposition from Team Dae-Gu-B winning both sets at 11-0 and 11-3. The Guam ladies were done for the day. In the men's singles event, Francis Guzman won a tie-breaker series against Team Dae-Gu-B at 11-6 / 4-11 and 11-7. Frank Rios suffered his two game loss to Team Dae-Gu-B at 7-11 and 8-11. Team Captain Francis Guzman said via internet "We've won the play pool and now are ranked overall number 4 out of 21 teams that participated in this event. We are still competitive and we are still hanging in there".
