Welcome to Gundam Base!

ANNOUNCEMENT!
You probably noticed the lack of updates recently... my apologies, work and another hobby have been taking up my time. I'll update the site with all the reviews I've received in the mail but other than that, I'll be keeping my input less for now as I concentrate on other stuff... I'll get back to Gundams soon (I promise!!!). If you would like to be added to my mailing list to receive mail when I start updating again please email me and I'll add you to the list.

Thanks for all the support guys! I'll be back!

A REQUEST...
Hey dudes, please drop a little note in my guestbook if you've enjoyed your visit to my site... I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Sorry the updates haven't been that regular lately... blame it on work. :)

I've put up a page to sell a lot of stuff from my hobbies... and there are a few MG/HGUC kits there - check it out here and find yourself a bargain or two!

~ 23 September ~
I'm putting some of my models for sale! If you are interested in anything you see, email me with your best offer and maybe we can work out something.

I'm also going to offer my services to build and paint Gundams at reasonable prices. If you like my work and want me to build something for you, email me.

~ 22 September ~
I've been pretty busy preparing for my trip to Japan next month... should be lots of cool stuff to see there. If you've been wondering what I've been up to, I've been spending what little free time I have in the past week on my other hobby. Check it out here!

~ 3 September ~
Okay... more pics today. Took new shots of my PG Zaku and my MS-07B Gouf!

~ 2 September ~
Been really busy with work. The slump in the IT industry should mean less work but things have just gotten more and more hectic.

Anyway, here's a new review on the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam!

I've got so many kits waiting to be built it's not even funny!

~ 8 August ~
I know it's been almost a week since my last update. My apologies. I was very ill so I was in bed most of the week. Will try to keep the updates coming.

Updated the putty tip in the tips section with a little extra info from Stephen Lee.

Nu-Gundam/Gouf Custom/Kampfer paint techniques - I've received quite a few mails from the pictures of these models that I posted on gundam.com and here on my site. Thanks for all the interest in my techniques. I will try to put up comprehensive information soon. But until then, I feel I owe you something so here is a simple page I'll update as regularly as possible in the meantime.

~ 1 October ~
Check out the cool new pics of the MSIA GP03 Dendromium here at Newtype Asylum! If you think toys like MSIAs don't belong on Gundam_Base, think again... this *toy* has a box of parts to assemble!

~ 23 September ~
Some new releases announced!

If you guys haven't already done so, pop down to basement two of Takashimaya shopping centre to see the Gundam Challenge entries. Very impressive stuff. Looking at them made me feel sad that I couldn't finish mine though... oh well, there's always next time.

There are also some pretty reasonable deals on Gundam kits there. Most notably are the 1/100 clear Zaku and Gundam kits going at $69 for a set. Some new releases are available too:

  • 1/550 Dendrobium
  • Gundam trailer (at a whopping S$61!!!)
  • MG ReGz at S$62
  • MG RGM (from 08th MS Team animation)

I'll try to go down with my digicam for some pics!!!

~ 11 August ~
Some cool Gundam news from the toyboxDX site:

Kotobukiya producing resin gundam kits? WOW! Check out Wing Gundam and Gundam Sandrock. I'm no Wing fan, but the proportions on these look good.

More pics of the 1/12 Zaku? Check these out:

[ Zaku pic / size / line art / parts ]

Some notes:

  • 66 pounds
  • comes as a half-completed kit
  • easy to assemble with supplied nuts and bolts
  • poseability in the shoulders, elbows (30-degree detents), fingers and head
  • individually jointed knuckles
  • 39 parts in each hand
  • 150 Injection molded parts
  • 55 Blow molded parts
  • 1 Clear part
  • 267 bolts, nuts, and washers
  • Weapons: Heat Hawk and Zaku Machinegun

~ 8 August ~
Some interesting stuff I found around the net f
rom my friend's site hobbygeek.com:

  • Scan of scratchbuilt MSN-04 Accguy here.
  • Lotsa cool pics of HK gundam modelling competition here.

Update of some sales in Singapore:

  • Takashimaya - still having 20% off their gundams... for a long time already. Limited selection though
  • Seiyu Parkway - 1/100 Shenlong Gundam for $19.90. Thanks to Joey for the update.

Some of you have seen this in the September issue of Hobby Japan. My friend who reads Japanese tells me that they are limited releases using Bandai's new coating technique to achieve camouflage. If you ask me, the design's a little too complicated *and* they should have gone all the way and done the chest too... what's the point of camouflage if you have that glaring blue visible? More info here on Newtype Asylum.

~ 3 August ~
Just thought you might like to know, Miniature Hobby at Bugis Junction is open again. They aren't fully unpacked though, and currently only accept cash transactions.

Past updates are available here.

My Ramblings...
Just a place to air my thoughts...

~ 23 July ~
I'm thinking of putting up a page for the upcoming ShengTai Challenge... basically anyone submitting pics for that competition can send me some to put up here as well... that way we can have a look at each other's models whether or not they get selected for the next round. What do you guys think? Email me and let me know okay?

~ 22 July ~
I'm thinking of changing the mech on my banner every once in a while just to keep the look fresh... what do you think? Let me know. :)

Work's been so busy lately that I've hardly had the time to work on my project... and when I do have time I'm too exhausted... sigh... if I don't get more work done on it soon I'll never complete it in time for the competition. I have been working on a write-up of the project with pictures though and that will go up mid-August. Do you think you know what's my secret project? Email me with your guesses and input and I might let you in on the secret. <grin>
