Jennifer smiled lightly at Zachary.
“You okay?”
Jenn nodded lightly.
Zac wrapped his arms around her as she leaned back against him. “You sure?”
“Yea,” Jenn replied.
“We should go do something,” Zac spoke aloud.
Jenn nodded. “But what?”
Zac shrugged, smiling. “I don’t know. Wanna go to the movies?”
Jenn nodded. “Sure.” She sat up and gave a light laugh. “Is this a date, Zachary?”
Zac smiled lightly. “Maybe...”
Jenn smiled. “Cool.”
“What movie do you want to see?”
“Whatever.”
“How about that new Scream movie?”
Jenn smiled. “Sounds awesome. Let’s go.”
The two got up from their spots on the couch and Jenn wrote a note to her mother.
“Ready?” Zac asked as Jennifer returned from the kitchen.
Jenn nodded. “As ready as I’ll ever be.”
Back at Kim’s...
Taylor pulled away from Kim slowly. “I love you,” Taylor spoke gently.
“I love you too,” Kim replied.
“Can I prove it to you?”
Kim’s eyes met Taylor’s. Slowly, Kim nodded. “Let’s go upstairs though.”
Tay nodded.
Kim fiddled with the clicker, turned off the tv and followed Tay upstairs.
Kim closed and locked her bedroom door and walked over to the bed where Taylor sat.
Slowly, she pulled her shirt off, revealing her white bra. She then pulled Taylor’s shirt off.
Tay had an obvious hard on.
Slowly, Kim unbuttoned and unzipped her pants, doing the same to Taylor’s. She pulled his off and then let hers fall to the floor.
Kim sat on Tay’s lap, slowly trailing her hand down to his boxers and began to rub him gently, hoping to relive some pressure.
He let out a low groan and then pulled her into the bed with him. He pulled her under the covers, unclasping her bra and pulling her underwear off. He gave her a few light kisses on the lips.
Kim returned the light kisses and pulled his boxers off. “Be gentle,” Kim whispered.
“Always,” Taylor spoke quietly to her, giving her another light peck as he raised himself up slowly and entered her. Being gentle was all he could be at that moment.
Meanwhile...
Jenn and Zac walked into the movie theater.
Zac walked over to the ticket booth and bought two tickets to see Scream 7: The Final Shriek. He walked back to where Jenn was standing. “Here,” Zac said, handing her the ticket.
“Thanks...Did you want anything before the movie starts?”
“Yea, but just something to drink.”
“Me too, c’mon,” she spoke, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the snack stand. Jenn stood in line. Zac stood behind her, his arms around her waist and his chin on her head. As they waited to get to the end of the line, they flirted and joked around with each other.
“Zac?” Zac turned around quickly to find himself standing face to face with Emily.
“Em...Hi,” Zac’s voice squeaked a little.
“What are you doing here? More like what are you doing here with her?”
“What? What’s that mean?” Jenn spoke.
“Um...” Zac didn’t know what to say.
“You told me we weren’t working out...That’s why you split,” Em spoke in a shaky voice.
“We weren’t,” Zac spoke.
“No, you were cheating on me with this ho!” Em yelled.
“Me? You didn’t just call me a ho!” Jenn yelled, Zac just about holding her back.
“You heard me, Bitch!”
“That’s it. Lemme at her!” Jenn lunged for Emily.
“No!” Zac yelled, grabbing Jenn. “Now stop, you two! Em, I didn’t break up with you because of Jenn. We weren’t working out, like I said before. So get over it.”
“Yea, whatever,” Em said.
“I think you owe Jenn an apology.”
“In her dreams.”
“More like in my nightmares,” Jenn retorted.
“Yea, well let’s just say that this loving attitude was one of the reasons we weren’t working out.” Zac gave Em a sarcastic smile. “Come on, Jenn, let’s go.” Zac grabbed Jenn’s hand, and with the other, Jenn flipped Em the bird with a nice smile to go along.
Meanwhile…
Kim lay next to Taylor under the covers. Her head rested on his chest and he gently played with her hair. He held her close to him and she did the same to him.
“I love you,” Taylor said, kissing her forehead.
“Yea, you better,” she laughed. “No, really, I love you too.”
“Kim?”
“Yeh?”
“Was this your first time?” Tay looked down at her. She looked into his crystal blue eyes and nodded as he smiled.
“Was it yours?”
“Yea, I don’t know. I always thought my first time would be with you.”
“Yea, me too. Weird how things worked out.”
“I’m glad they worked out the way they did.”
“Oh, me too,” she spoke with a light smile, looking up at him.
“So, when do your parents get home?”
“Sunday night...”
“Oh, so you’re home alone for two more days huh?” he asked with a grin.
“Yea...what’s that grin for?” she asked with a little laugh.
“Oh, nothing…”
“Yea, I am so sure.”
“Like, really? You are?”
“Are you making fun of me?” she spoke, not able to keep the smile off her face at his lame impersonation.
“Like, never. No way,” he said, laughing.
“Okay, now you’re scaring me.” Tay laughed. He look down at her and kissed her lips gently. Kim returned it, moving herself up a little so they would be laying next to each other. He gently slipped his tongue into her mouth. Their tongues mingled with each other’s. He pulled her close to him, feeling her soft skin. She pulled away from his lips and snuggled up next to him. He laid there, smiling at her, his arm wrapped around her, watching her fall asleep.
Meanwhile…
At the movie theater, Zac and Jenn sat in the back of the theater. Jenn was still a little upset about what had happened earlier.
“Jenn, I’m sorry about that whole thing with Em.”
“Oh, it wasn’t your fault. She just got me really angry calling me all that stuff. How can someone say that when they don’t even know you?”
“I dunno...Tell you the truth, I never really liked her. My friend set us up and I felt bad cause she was totally into me. I mean who wouldn’t be, right? I mean, look at me,” he laughed.
“Yea, you just keep thinking that.”
“Hey!” They started laughing.
“You know I was kidding, right?”
“Yea, I know no one can resist me.”
“Now that’s funny.”
“Okay, I think I’m gonna go home if you’re gonna be so mean to me.”
“No, no. Don’t go I was only kidding.”
“Good, cause I already paid for the ticket.”
“You cheapo!” They laughed. The movie started and they both sat back to watch. Zac put his arm around her shoulder and she moved closer to him.
A few minutes later, Jenn found herself making out with Zac. It felt good to be in his arms again and she was enjoying every moment of it. He always made her feel safe and warm and when he wasn’t there, when her parents were getting divorced, she really missed him. She needed him the most then, but he wasn’t there. But that didn’t matter anymore, he was there now. They were together again and together they would stay until something tore them apart. That something sat a few rows behind them, watching them make out, with tears in her eyes. That something was Emily.
Tay woke up a few hours later, around midnight. A light smile appeared on his face as he inhaled the scent of Kim’s hair and kissed the top of her head.
He loved her so very much. He would give his life for her. He’d give it all up for her in a heartbeat.
Slowly, her eyes opened, and looked up at Tay.
“Hey, go back to sleep,” Tay whispered.
Kim smiled lightly and did as he advised.
Tay smiled, holding her closely, drifting back to sleep himself. “I love you, Kimberly,” he whispered, falling asleep.
About ten minutes after midnight, in front of Jenn’s house, Jennifer and Zachary stood. “I had a really good time tonight,” Zac spoke as they approached Jennifer’s front door.
“Yea, I did too,” Jenn smiled.
“Sorry again about Emily.”
“Hey, it’s okay. It was bound to happen sooner or later.”
“Hey,” Zac started. “My family and I are going to visit my aunt next weekend in New York if you want to go with us. I’m sure my parents won’t mind.”
Jenn smiled. “I’d like that. I’ll ask my mom tomorrow and I’ll tell you as soon as I find out.”
“Okay. I hope you can come. I’ll call you tomorrow,” Zac spoke, giving her a light kiss on the lips.
Jenn nodded, walking through her doorway. “I’d ask you to come in, but my mom won’t like the idea too much.”
“It’s okay,” Zac laughed. “I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“Okay…Good night. Thanks for everything.”
“Night…and, Jenn?” Jenn began to close her door, but stopped at the sound of her name.
“Yea?”
“I love you.”
Jenn gave a light smile, leaning against her front door. “I love you too.”
Zac smiled and closed the glass door for her as she locked it and closed the wooden door. She let out a light sigh and walked to her room, thanking God that her and Zac were getting back together.
+chapter.eleven+
The next morning, Kimberly woke up, wrapped in Taylor’s arms. She gave a light yawn and kissed Taylor’s cheek. Slowly, she crawled from his arms and wrapped her bathrobe around herself. She walked downstairs, getting a glass of orange juice and sitting at the kitchen table, recalling what had happened the previous night.
Kim gave a light sigh as she heard a pair of footsteps coming towards the kitchen.
“Morning,” Tay smiled as he walked into the kitchen in his boxers.
“Morning,” Kim replied. “Sleep good?”
“Oh, you know it, Baby. Did you?”
Kim smiled, “Yea. Want some OJ?”
Tay nodded. “Sure.” He sat down at the table as she gave him a glass. “Thanks.”
“Sure,” Kim replied.
“Hey, I meant to ask you last night, me and my fam are going to New York this coming weekend if you want to go with us. I’m going to be mighty lonely if you aren’t there…” Tay trailed.
Kim smiled. “I’ll ask when my parents get home.”
“Cool…I hope you can come. It’s gonna suck if you can’t go with us. Zac said he was going to ask Jenn, so they’re gonna be all up on each other. So if you can’t go, I’m gonna have to put up with them.”
Kim laughed. “Oh man. Are they back together?”
“I don’t know. He had a date with her yesterday or something.”
“Aww. I hope they get back together…”
Tay nodded. “Me too. This way he won’t be bitching so much anymore.”
Kim laughed. “That sounds like Zac alright.”
“Babes, I have to get going. I have class in two hours,” Tay pouted.
“Aww, okay,” Kim replied, giving him a light kiss.
“I’ll call you as soon as I get home. Maybe we can do something tonight.”
Kim nodded. “Alright.”
Jennifer awoke around eleven o’clock. She gave a large yawn and crawled out of bed, and heading to the bathroom to take a shower.
Fifteen minutes later, she was dressed and was drying her hair.
Afterwards, she headed downstairs and saw her mother in the laundry room, putting some clothes in the washer.
“Hey, Mom,” she kissed her mother on the cheek.
“Mm, your hair smells good.”
Jenn smiled lightly. “Thanks.”
“So, how did the date with Zac go last night?”
Jenn smiled. “Really well.”
“I’m glad you two are back together.”
Jenn nodded. “Me too…Hey, Mom?”
“Yea?”
“Zac said he and his family were going to New York for the weekend to visit his aunt and he wanted to know if I could go with them.”
“I don’t know. I’m going to have to talk with their parents. If it’s okay with them, we’ll see if you can go.”
Jenn smiled. “Okay. I’ll tell him to have his parents call.”
“Okay.”
“I’m going to get some breakfast. Can Zac come over a little later?”
Caroline nodded. “I don’t see why not.”
“Cool, thanks, Mom.”
“Mmhmm,” Caroline smiled.
Jennifer left the room and jogged up to her bedroom. She picked up her phone and began walking to the living room to sit as it rang in her hand.
“Hello?” she answered.
“Hey, Baby,” Zac’s voice came.
“Hey,” Jenn smiled. “What’s up?”
“Nothing, just wanted to call.”
“That’s cool. Hey, my mom said she wanted to talk to your parents before anything goes down, but I have a feeling she’s gonna say yes.”
“Phat!” Zac exclaimed. “Oh man, I hope you can go! If you can’t, oh my God, I’m gonna be like, sooo bored!”
“Same here. I don’t know what I’d do if you were gone for that long.”
“Yea, it would be total torture not to have you around.”
“Aw, Zac, you’re so sweet. I’m sure my mom will let me go.”
“Yea, well, Tay is asking Kim. So, we can all chill with each other.”
“We’re going to have a great time.”
“Yea, I can’t wait,” Zac smiled.
“Me neither.”
“I have so many great ideas and plans for where we can go and what we can do.”
“Oh? What are they?”
“You’ll just have to wait and see.”
“Whatever!” Jenn stuck her tongue out at the phone and Zac laughed.
“Zac, what’s the sleeping arrangement going to be like?”
“Well, Ike isn’t going because he can’t get off from work. So me, you, Kim, and Tay will probably share a room.”
“Oh shit. Work. I’m going to have to see what I can do…I should be able to get out though...Anyway, what about your parents?”
“They’ll probably sleep in another room with the rest of our family. They’ll probably get a big room cause my aunt’s house is huge!”
Jenn smiled. “Sounds like we’re gonna have some fun.”
“Yea, we’ll be able to stay out clubbin’ however late we want.”
“This is going to be awesome. I’m sure my mom will let me go. I mean, she trusts your family and everything.”
“Yea, it’ll all work out…And if not I’ll stay home with Ike…That wouldn’t be bad cause he’d let you be over whenever you want.”
“That’s awesome. But I have to go, Hun. Me and my mom are having dinner with my Dad.”
“Oh? Is there anything going on?”
“I have no clue. He called here and told us to meet him there. I think my mom wants to clear this whole New York thing with him. I don’t get why. He doesn’t run my life anymore.” Jenn gave a sigh. “Sorry…I don’t mean to—
“It’s okay, Babes. I see where you’re coming from. Good luck with it all.”
“Thanks. I’m gonna need it…I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“Okay…or call me when you get home. Whatever you want.”
“Okay. Love you.”
“Love you too…Bye.”
“Bye,” Jenn replied, a wide smile on her face as she hung up. Whenever she talked to him, he brightened her day. She went to get ready for dinner with her father. She hoped that everything would go over well with him.
Meanwhile…
Kim was talking to her parents on the phone later that evening. She began to tell them the details of the trip.
“Mom, Mrs. and Mr. Hanson are going to be there. It’s not like we’re going to be alone,” Kim spoke.
“Honey, you and Taylor just started going out again. Shouldn’t you wait awhile before you go away with him?” her mother asked.
“How could you say that? First, I have known Taylor for a long time. Now, not to mention that this is a family vacation. It’s not like we’re eloping or something!”
“I understand that, Hun. I just want you to see that if anything happens between you two, you can’t just come home because you’ll be miles away and it would be wrong to ruin everyone else’s vacation.”
“Mom, I understand that, but I don’t think anything is going to happen. We’re more in love than ever.” Kim thought of the night before, a smile coming to her face.
“Okay…As long as you realize that. Now, exactly when are you going and how long will you be gone?”
“Well, we’re going tomorrow, Friday, and since you get home Sunday, that’s why I called you to ask so I could pack. And I think we’re going for a weekend.” Kim waited. The silence was never a good sign from her parents. It meant they were thinking of a way to let her down.
“Well…Since we’ll be gone all weekend, I don’t see why you can’t be.”
“Oh, thank you, Mom!”
“But on one condition. The house has to be clean when we get home and everything has to be the way we left it. Including the car.”
“Oh, everything’s perfect here. There’s nothing to worry about.”
“Yea, well, we’ll see when we get home.”
“Okay, cool, Mom. Anything else?” She was anxious to get off the phone so she could tell Taylor the good news.
“No, nothing else.”
“Okay then. I’ll see you when I get home.”
“See you then, Hun. I love you.”
“Love you too, Mom. Bye.”
“Bye.”
They hung up. Kim was so happy, she couldn’t wait to call Taylor. Just then, the phone rang.
Meanwhile…
Zac sat in his room listening to some music. He had made out a list of things he wanted to get from the store for the trip. Tons of candy, film, batteries, and a box of condoms, were a few of the things that ended up on the list. Zac stared at the last need. A light smile appeared on his face. Maybe, just maybe they would be able to be the way they were. They had only made love once, and it really didn’t mean too much afterwards to Jennifer. It meant the world to both of them during, but afterwards, with everything that happened, she wished it never happened. At least that’s what Zachary thought. Hopefully though, they would be able to relive it in a much better way. Hopefully, they would make love and not worry about what else was going on. It would be just the two of them. He would make this time so much more romantic…
He had so many plans for New York and that was just one of them. Whether or not it happened, wouldn’t kill the trip, but he was really hoping that it did.
Meanwhile…
Jenn and her mother sat across the table from her father. The restaurant was classy and they were all dressed suitably. The conversation had been small talk, but Jennifer knew her father had something big to tell them. What that was, she couldn’t put her finger on.
“Well, I’m sure you’re wondering why I asked you here,” Richard began. “I have some big news. Just wait a second.”
Rich got up and walked to the lobby. Caroline and Jenn’s eyes followed him the whole walk there. They turned to each other. Without saying a word, they questioned what he was doing. Then Richard came back with a tall, thin, brunette to the table. Their questions were answered.
“Girls, this is Vicky. We’re going to get married and when we do, we would like you, Jennifer to come live with us.”
Jennifer and Caroline stared at him, and neither knew what to say as they stared at the woman half Rich’s age.
As soon as Kim got off the phone with her mother, she rushed to call Taylor with her good news. She picked up the phone and dialed his cell.
“Hello?” Tay picked up.
“Hey.”
“Hey, Babes. What’s up?”
“Nothing much here, you?”
“Same here.”
“Guess what.”
“What?” Tay smiled at her childishness.
“My mom said I could go with you guys to New York.”
“Wow, that’s great!”
“Yea, I know.”
“Cool, so then I pick you up at ten. Be all packed and ready by nine-thirty though. We might pick Jenn up before or after you. I’m not sure.”
“Okay. We’re going in your car?”
“Me, you, Zac, and Jenn. Not everyone can fit in the van, so…”
“Oh, okay. Cool. Even more fun than I expected.”
“Hey, what’s that supposed to mean?” Tay asked. Kim laughed.
“No, I didn’t mean it like that. I meant we can listen to music and talk and things like that.
“Yea, we’re gonna have a blast.”
“I can’t wait.”
“Neither can I. There’s so much to do. And we can do everything and anything we want.”
“Oh, so we can go shopping all day?” There was silence from the other end. “That’s what I thought.” Tay laughed.
“I mean, there is so much more to do other than shopping.” She laughed.
“Yea, whatever you say, Tay.”
“Hey, Kim, I hate to do this, but I have to go.”
“Oh, okay. See you at ten tomorrow.”
“Yup, see you then.”
“Bye. Love you.”
“Love you too, bye.”
They hung up and got ready for the next day and all the fun it would bring.
The rest of the night, no one knew what to say. Caroline sat through dinner without saying a word. She wasn’t devastated by Richard’s engagement, but at the fact that he wanted Jennifer to live with them. They went through dinner without bringing up the subject, but Rich knew what he wanted and they were going to talk about it. So after they finished their meals and were waiting on dessert, he brought it up.
“So, Jennifer what do you think about coming to live with us?”
“Dad, no offence, but I really don’t want to. I mean, she could be my sister, not my step-mom.”
“Jennifer!” Caroline exclaimed, but in her mind, noting that she had to congratulate her daughter on that one.
Jenn rolled her eyes. “Whatever.”
“Jenn, I would really like you to come stay with us. You have plenty of time to think. We’re not getting married until then end of the summer.”
“I’ll think about it,” Jenn spoke, sitting with tears in her eyes. Why did things have to be this way. She remembered how she would cry how she wanted things to be the same, but if they were, things would suck even worse. Either way she was screwed. She lost her dad a long time ago. He still thought she was a toddler. He never accepted the fact that she had grown up. She wasn’t a little girl anymore. No matter how much he wanted her to be, she wasn’t. She just wasn’t.
+chapter.twelve+
The next morning was hectic at the Hanson household. Everyone was doing last minute packing and getting ready. The family was rushing around, trying to get out of the house to set out on their two hour trip from New Jersey to New York. Taylor and Zac got everything together first. They left to go get a few things at the store and then pick up the girls. The rest of the family would leave without them and then everyone would meet up at their aunt’s house.
“Zac, come on. Let’s go!” Tay yelled to Zac.
“Coming!” Zac ran down the stairs.
“Mom, we’re outta here! See you later! Love you!” Tay called up to their parents.
“Bye, Mom! Love you!” Zac yelled up.
“Bye, Kids! Love you too! Drive careful!” Diana yelled down. Zac and Tay walked out to the car and put their stuff in the trunk.
“I hope all of our stuff fits,” Tay spoke.
“If not we can just tie them to the roof.”
“The luggage?” Tay asked.
“No, the girls.”
“Yea, I’m sure they would love that.” Tay and Zac laughed and got in the car.
First, they picked up Kim and Jenn, then they headed to the store to pick up a few things. Lucky for Zac, no one realized what he was picking up. And the same went for Taylor.
Afterwards, they got back in Tay’s car and they were headed off to the Big Apple.
On the way there, Jenn talked to Zachary about what had happened the night before with her father. He was the only one she felt would care and really listen to her. And the only one that would let her sleep in their arms the whole way to New York. She couldn’t sleep the whole night and was so exhausted from the night before that she conked out almost as soon as they hit the parkway.
Zac didn’t mind much. He loved just watching her sleep. She was so peaceful…so pretty in her sleep. Her complexion such a fair color, her hair dipping down upon her face, and she didn’t snore. Sure, the occasional deep breath through the nose, but who doesn’t do that?
Up front, Tay and Kim were talking and listening to the radio. The two were having a great time and really didn’t care what Zac and Jenn were doing in the back. They could be sleeping soundly, or in the middle of a total make-out session. Neither Tay nor Kim cared. They were having too much fun up front.
After awhile, they stopped at a rest area. Tay and Kim got out and Zac began to wake Jenn up.
“Jenners,” he whispered. “C’mon, Baby. Get up.”
Jenn took in a deep breath and looked around with squinted eyes. “We aren’t there yet, are we?”
Zac laughed. “No. Kim had to pee, and you know Taylor. If she has to go then miraculously, he does too.”
Jenn laughed. “I’m just gonna stay in here, Hun. I’m really tired.”
“Are you okay? You’re never like this.”
“I was up late last night. I fell asleep around 2 and I was up at 9 to get ready.”
“Baby, still. Actually, you aren’t looking too good. You look really pale.”
“I’ll be okay,” Jenn smiled lightly as her eyes met Zachary’s. “Trust me, I’ll be fine.”
He gave a sigh and nodded. “Okay. But if you feel sick at all, let me know.”
Jenn nodded. “Okay.”
“I’m gonna go get a Pepsi. You want anything?”
“Just a bottle of water if they have it. Do you need money?” Zac stared at Jenn for a second. She smiled gently in return. “Thanks, Baby.”
Zac headed inside to get the Pepsi and water, praying that Jenn was going to be okay for this trip.
Meanwhile…
Kim had just walked out of the bathroom to see Taylor standing nearby.
“Hey, ready?” Kim asked.
“Yeap,” Tay replied. He spotted Zac standing in the corner, fighting with a vending machine filled with sodas. “You go out to the car. I’ll be out in a minute with Swifty over here.”
“Okay,” Kim laughed.
Taylor approached Zachary to hear him cursing the machine. “God damn soda machine. Why do these frigging things have to be so damn complicated?”
“Taking up a new hobby?”
“Which? Cursing off machines or talking to myself?”
Tay laughed. “Both…You need any help with that?”
Just as the words left his mouth, it took Zac’s dollar. “Yes!” The bottle of Pepsi dropped and Zac smiled proudly. “All you have to do is negotiate with these things then things start happening.”
Tay laughed. “Yea, okay, Zac. Let’s go.”
The two brothers walked out to the car and got in the same seats they started in.
“Babes,” Zac whispered in Jenn’s ear as he got in. “I got your water.”
Jenn gave a light smile, returning herself to his shoulder, still half asleep. “Thanks, Baby.” She took the water from him, holding it on her lap.
Zac smiled lightly and kissed the top of her head. God, he hoped she would be okay for this trip.
Jennifer was asleep in seconds. She wasn’t feeling too sick. Just tired. She’d be okay.
After an hour, they reached their aunt’s house.
Taylor and Kimberly began lugging in their luggage as Zachary began to wake Jennifer again. “Baby,” he whispered.
“Hmm?” Jenn yawned, her eyelids raising some.
“We’re here,” Zac replied.
Jenn stretched some in his arms before opening her eyes and smiling shyly up at him.
“Have a good nap?”
Jenn nodded, not using her voice yet, afraid of what it would sound like.
“C’mon, let’s get our stuff together and go in and get settled. You’re probably going to have to room with Kim,” Zac pouted.
Jenn cleared her throat. “Aww,” she hugged him, running her fingers through his blond locks.
“I’ll sneak you in,” he whispered.
Jenn smiled “okay, but until then, let’s go get settled in.” She picked her water up off the floor after pulling away from Zac.
“I’ll get your bag,” Zac jumped for it.
Jenn smiled gently. “Thanks, Baby.”
“Hey, anytime.”
Jenn got out of the car and walked to the trunk to get her suitcase to see Kim and Taylor in the midst of a makeout session.
“Ugh, guys, wait until we unpack the car,” Jenn sighed. She grabbed her suitcase, walked to the door, and waited with Zachary for someone to open it.
His grandmother opened the door and greeted the two generously. “Zachary! How are you, Dear? I’ve missed you so much! Look how much older you’ve gotten! Oh, my, is this Jennifer?” Zac nodded, giving his gram a hug. “She’s very pretty,” she whispered. Zachary nodded once again.
“Nice to meet you, Mrs. Hanson.”
“Hello, Sweetie. You can call me Nana. All the kids do.”
Jenn smiled. “Thank you so much for letting me stay, Nana.”
“Oh, anytime. Now, run along and get yourselves settled in. Zac, show Jennifer to the guest room.”
“Okay, Nana. Thanks.” The two went upstairs to start unpacking as Taylor and Kimberly came to the door.
“Hey, Grams. Thanksfor letting us stay over,” Tay hugged his grandmother.
“Anytime, Sweetie. You know that…Kimberly is very pretty too,” she whispered.
Taylor nodded. “I know,” he breathed.
“Thank you so much, Mrs. Hanson, for having me.”
“Anytime, Kimberly. And call me Nana.”
Kim smiled. “Okay, Nana.”
“Now, go get unpacked. Taylor will show you to the guest room.”
The two went upstairs, hearing low voices coming from the room the boys usually stayed in.
Taylor peeked in to put his stuff down and caught sight of Zac and Jenn seated on one of the beds. He rolled his eyes and showed Kim to her room down the hall.
“What were they doing in there?”
“Talking. As usual.”
“No, Tay, that’s something else,” Kim joked.
“Oh, yea.”
Kim smiled as Taylor opened a door to a room with two beds and two dressers and a night table. “Here you are.”
“Wow, it’s so pretty.” The deco consisted of a blue/purple pattern. The linens and carpet were all a crisp blue and the furniture was a light purple.
“Yea, Jessi picked the color scheme,” he smiled.
“Aww, it’s cute.”
“So’re you,” Tay leaned over and gave Kim a light kiss.
“I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you more,” he smiled.
Kim laughed. “Get outta here.”
“Aww, do I have to?”
“Nah, you can help me put my stuff away,” Kim smiled.
“Is that literal or hyphenated?”
“A little of both.”
Taylor grinned as he hiked Kim’s bag up on her bed. “Let’s get this stuff away so we have the bed to ourselves.”
Kim smiled. “Sounds good to me.”
