Two years had past since the rocky break-ups of Jenn and Zac, and Kim and Taylor. The road to recovery was long and hard, but all four seemed to find themselves again and move on from the events of the past. From the day of their break-up, Taylor hadn’t spoken to Kimberly. Kim tried, but after her countless efforts she gave up. Zac, just like Kim, had also tried to reach Jenn but also gave up after no response.
Also from the events before the break-up there was a strain on Taylor and Zac’s brotherly love and Kim and Jenn’s friendship. After the first year the passed, all was gone but far from forgotten. Zac and Taylor started really talking after six months of forced small talk. Ike, acting as the therapist, sat the two down when no one was home, and began a “session” with them, Isaac as the mediator. Just recently are they becoming more trusting towards each other. They feel more stable and secure with each other and their bond as brothers has strengthened. Both know it may never be the way it was, but still, at least they have one another. Kim and Jenn also sat down for a long talk. At first, Jenn would make up excuses why she couldn’t do things with Kim, but after their talk they too have worked out their problems and are also now more trusting towards each other. They have been spending more time with each other and have also become more stable with each other and feel more secure around one another. Although Kim and Jenn, and Zac and Taylor have worked out their problems with each other none has made the effort to get back together or even talk to their ex.
In the past two years, the boys have seen many girlfriends come and go, but none like the ones they once had. With each break-up, they longed for their old girlfriends more and more. Zac has just recently started seeing a girl from school by the name of Emily. He likes her, but not in the same way he liked Jenn. Hell, loved Jenn. With Jenn, there were sparks and chills in every kiss and hug, but with Emily there is nothing. In the back of Zac’s mind, he wanted Jennifer back, but knew that couldn’t happen. Not after what he did to her. So, he settled for any girl he could get and after a few dates would winds up dumping them, a cycle that he started after Jenn left. Just like Zac, Taylor too has seen his share of girls come and go. Taylor now has been dating Monica for four months. Which is longer than any girl he’s dated, including Kim, but deep down he knows she’s not the one, and deep down he also knows who is. He’s not ready to go through the pain, hurt, and anger that came along with going out with Kim. So, like Zac, he settles for Monica and just like Zac, he too doesn’t feel the sparks or the chills that he once felt with Kim so long ago.
Just like the boys, Kim and Jenn have also seen their share of guys come and go. Jenn was dating Sean again. After her break up with Zac she felt he was the only one she could turn to. They slowly went from friends to much more. Jenn loved Sean, but deep down she knew it was more of a brother like love than that love you would give to a boyfriend. She too, settled for Sean, because of how comfortable and how safe and secure she felt with him. Just recently though, she broke up with him. She was sick of being limited and held back. She wanted to find the right guy for her and she knew she was going to.
Kim also has seen many boys after Taylor. She also is dating someone by the name of Josh. Josh, like her stepfather, has a tendency to hit her when he gets angry. She thinks it’s her fault for his sudden outbursts of anger, so she always winds up apologizing to him and they make up and continue to go out. No matter how many times Jenn has told her to leave him. She says that she loves him, but deep down it’s more of a fear of what he will do to her when she leaves, than an actual love. All in all, their new relationships have no comparison to what they once had some two years ago.
Taylor is now a freshman in college at the age of 18. He shares a dorm with his friend, Mike, at the college. Tay works at Keep in Touch Stuff Beeper Outlet in the mall.
Zac, a junior in high school, at sixteen, works at The Wall in the mall.
Kim, also sixteen and a junior in the same high school, works at Old Navy in the mall.
Jenn, now seventeen and, like Zac and Kim, a junior in high school, works at GAP in the mall.
Although Jenn and Zac work in the same mall, their paths never seem to cross. Not to mention Jennifer doesn’t know about Zachary’s job at the mall. All four have moved on from their past relationships. Only two of the four, actually looking back and wishing for what things used to be. Secretly, Zac and Kim talk to each other on the phone and occasionally go out together, but just as friends. Neither lets it get out to the other one’s ex of the meetings. Both wish they never did what they did, but both know they can never take it back, and they can only pray that what's to come in the future is better then what once was in the past.
