After a bit, Isaac looked at his watch. “It’s like, eight already. You wanna get a bite to eat?” he asked.
“Sure, I guess,” Jennifer replied. “How about here?” She pointed to a deli/bakery combo.
“Whatever,” Isaac replied as they walked in.
“I’m just gonna get this taco thing and a Surge,” Jenn said.
“I’ll have the same. You get the sandwiches and I’ll get the drinks.”
“Okay,” Jenn replied, picking up two sandwiches.
The two met at the checkout counter. Jenn began to take out a five-dollar bill. “Jenn, it’s okay. I’ll get it,” Isaac said.
“Naw, that’s okay. I’ll get mine,” Jennifer replied.
“Jenn, I’m serious, I got it,” Isaac said, handing the cashier a ten dollar bill.
“Fine, but I get the next one,” Jenn replied.
“Fine,” Ike echoed. Isaac and Jennifer each took their own food and walked outside for a seat.
“Ike, over there!” Jenn exclaimed, finding a seat close to a store, but far away enough that no one was bothering them.
“Wow, this is really nice,” Isaac said.
Jennifer nodded. “My family and I sat in this very spot about three years ago.”
“Cool,” Isaac said, sitting down. “They even have music playing…sounds like Disney, of course,” he added referring to the song, “Circle of Life”.
“Yup,” Jenn smiled. “Thanks for dinner.”
“Sure.”
Once “Circle of Life ended, a new song started “Percussion, strings, winds, words. Dere ya see her sittin’ dere across de way,” came from the speakers. Both Isaac’s and Jennifer’s heads shot up at the words. They were both familiar with the song. Their eyes met and neither could break the stare.
“Jenn?”
“Yes?” Jenn asked, giving a small nod and swallowing hard.
“I, um, I, uh, I…” Ike stuttered. “I kinda really like you.”
“Um, Ike?”
“Yes?” Isaac asked hopefully.
“I kinda really like you too,” Jennifer replied, blushing.
Ike smiled. “Really?”
“Yes,” Jenn said quietly.
That’s when Ike followed the song’s instructions and “kissed the girl”. The two pulled apart, each smiling as the song continued.
After Sebastian was through singing the message, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” came on.
Jenn giggled. “What?” Ike asked.
“You have the cutest look on your face right now,” Jennifer informed.
“Well, I can’t help it if I can feel the love tonight,” he replied.
Jenn blushed. “You are too sweet.”
It was Isaac’s turn to blush. “Thanks?”
Jennifer smiled at Ike. ‘She looked so sweet and innocent…I really like her. I wonder if I—‘
“Are you okay?” Jenn asked, looking concerned.
“Yea,” Isaac replied quickly. He opened his sandwich and took a bite. Jenn did the same, unsure.
There was a silence, each picking at their sandwiches.
Isaac smiled at her, and she returned it. Basically, each was putty in the other’s hands.
