The Process

Current Eligibility Year
The Joe Higgs Music Awards current eligibility year is:
July 1, 2008 - April 30, 2009

Eligibility Guidelines
Works must be devoid of profanity, and discriminatory commentary

Nomination Entry Submission
One may submit a nomination entry worthy of award recognition

Entry Evaluation
All entries are evaluated to ensure that the eligibility criteria are met

Who May Submit A Nomination Entry
Any person who is musically aware can submit an entry or entries. 
The performer can enter his/her own works as well  

How Does One Submit An Entry
Entries will be submitted via the entry form here online or by email

Category & Field Distribution
Eligible entries are distributed to their respective categories and fields

Main Categories
Traditional, Instrumental, Classical, Gospel, Dancehall

The Finalists
A selected panel will elect the five (5) finalists in each respective field

The Winner
A separate, selected team of music experts will then elect the winner from 
the group of five (5) finalists of each respective field. All elects will then be 
placed in the care of an Independent Agent where they will remain until the
day of the awards presentation ceremony.

All Votes Count
The top five (5) nominees are elected via our points system, therefore, all votes count!!!

Who May Vote
A carefully selected panel of music professionals, which may include, but not limited to:
Singers, Songwriters, Composers, Band Members, Producers, Arrangers, Engineers and
Instrumentalists with at least 10 years of expertise in the music business

Independent Agent
The Independent Agent will deliver the sealed envelope to the Award Presenter
at the podium

Award Presenter
The Award Presenter will open the sealed envelope he or she receives at the
podium in a timely manner

Award Presentation
The Winner is announced by the Award Presenter when he or she opens the
sealed envelope, at the podium, at the awards presentation ceremony.
The award is then presented to the winner who is allowed a "Thank You" speech

Who May Present An Award
Any decent, intelligent, confident, well-speaking individual may be asked by the
awards team to be an award presenter

Winner's Acceptance Speech
The winner's acceptance speech shall not exceed two (2) minutes

Ladies:  Evening Gowns,
Gentlemen:  Jacket Suits
