"I began writing fiction for my own children because it was a way to
introduce new concepts and encourage them to read. It was more of a challenge to write for children I hadn't met, but
with the photos, and the clues provided by their family, it made the process an adventure for me too. When a child learns
that reading is fun, and that a book can take you on an exciting adventure, it gives them a whole new outlook on the world
around them. To be the star of their own adventure gives that child the feeling that they can do anything in this world,
and that's what a book should give to anyone who reads it. Imagination is the start of a child's exploration of him/herself,
and the abilities that they may have. When I write a story about a special child, as they all are, that is
what I want that child to feel whenever they read their own story, special to their family, and to the world. That's
why I write children's stories, and why none of those stories, or children, will be like anyone else's.
