The fifth version of the American Civil War Excellence Award, the Gold Award can ONLY be awarded by the web master of this Civil War web site. Face it fellows, the Awards Program that our contemporaries are involved in is wonderful in achieving its goal, and that is mainly to solicit additional traffic at their respective web sites. The awards, therefore are somewhat advertisement in nature, and this is not a bad reflection on the Civil War awards program. Face it, we all want the fine folks out there to look over our hard work! However, we should strive to say to a very select group of Civil War web masters...
Keeping this thought in mind, this web master will strive to view many Civil War sites over the coming weeks and months...then will make his decision as to the sites he will choose for the Gold Award. Any site that will be considered for the Gold Award will be carefully scrutinized by this web master prior to its selection. The sites chosen MUST meet with the highest of standards for a Historical Civil War Site. The site MUST contain timely information relating to the following guidelines:
1. Site MUST be historical in content.
2. Site MUST be graphically appealing.
3. Site MUST contain Regimental Rosters or their equivalent.
4. Site MUST contain civil war era photos and/or illustrations.
5. Site MUST contain historical information such as diaries, letters, newspaper articles,
artifacts, and the like.
6. Site MUST contain documentation of materials used, footnotes, references, etc. These rules are the MINUMUM criteria for the Gold Award.
There will be NO exceptions to these rules.
Hopefully, these rules will give us, the Civil War
web masters something to strive for!It is with intense pride that this web site chooses to honor some fellow "American Civil War" web sites...with this humble token. No amount of praise, by this web master, can express the devotion, perseverance, research and sacrifice that these web sites have contributed to the memory of our long past ancestors.
Please accept this small token of appreciation for a "job well done". Three cheers to the web sites that follow! To visit an American Civil War Excellence Award site:
