Additional Information (4 August 2003): Burial Site of Victor E. Anderson. Victor E. Anderson is laid to rest at location Q9B1 in the Champion Cemetery (MQ-6) in Champion, Marquette County, Michigan. According to the grid system that was made up by Mrs. Renne Saari of Michigamme, MI., who researched the local cemeteries, the cemetery is a small country cemetery and the grave sites do have small stone markers. The official address of the burial site is Section 32, Cemetery Street, Champion, Michigan. Hwy 41 goes through Champion in the center of town. Cemetery Street is a left turn as you head west. The street goes basically straight up a hill and the cemetery is located on top of the hill. Two additional Louisiana soldiers are also laid to rest here. William A. Williams, Co. C., 28th (Gray's) Louisiana Infantry is laid to rest at plot #01A1. A third soldier, Joseph S. Beatty of the 1st Louisiana Infantry (Nelligan's) is laid to rest at plot #E10D. The location of the cemetery can be located using Terra Server or Map Quest. This excellent information was provided by Mr. John Gorto of Marquette County, Michigan who is working on a graves project. As of this writing, we do not know the nature of how these three men of three separate Louisiana Civil War units ended up in northern Michigan? It appears that the deaths of these three men were NOT registered with the county.
