Joseph survived the war and is laid to rest at the St. Francis Regis Catholic Church Cemetery in Arnaudville, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. A check of the Confederate Pension Applications at the Archives in Baton Rouge, show that there is an application on file for both Joseph and his wife/widow Marie MARKS. Adding some confusion to the pension application process, an additional pension application is also on file for another wife/widow of Joseph, Felecite ARNAUD, and this one is on behalf of Joseph E. Quebedaux.
