Harper's Tale - Saturday, July 06, 2002, 10:33 PM
-------------------------------------------------

Porch
The wood-floored porch stretches the width of the cabin and is open to the forest on the other three sides. An assortment of chairs, foot stools, and small tables is scattered about, all stained a medium green that contrasts well with the combination of grey stone and amber wood. The cabin wall is pierced by several large windows, a door near the center of the wall, and a gear and handle that rotate a chain that extends up towards the ceiling, where it is attached to a series of rolling metal shutters that can be shut for threadfall.
Baskets set into the wall are filled with sweet-smelling herbals.
To the north, you see one person.
Obvious exits:
Cabin Door     Beach

You knock at the door leading to Main Room and announce yourself.

You go to the Main Room.
Main Room
The high ceiling of the room is crafted of stone and lattice work giving the open room an even more open feel. Two large windows set under one gable are bordered by stained glass. On the other side of the room is an open loft which can be reached by a steep staircase. Three of the walls are pierced with large open windows, each with one of the rolling metal shudders found on the porch above them. At ground level, the rustic colors of the furniture and decorations lend a homey, comfortable feel to the room.
Two large soft chairs by a reading table are set next to one of the large windows, looking out towards the tree-screened lake, and a dining table surrounded by four chairs sits in another corner. Under the loft is a small but functional kitchen, partially screened from the rest of the room by open shelves resting on top of cabinets. next to a set of cabinets that make up the east wall of the kitchen, a staircase leads down under the floor from the main room of the cabin.
Baskets set into the wall are filled with sweet-smelling herbals.
Above, you see one person.
Arakiel is here.

Obvious exits:
Work room     Porch     Loft

Arakiel is putting some personal touches to the room. "Come in, wipe your feet."
Evan glides silently in from the Loft.

Liesana does as ordered, ducking in around the door and seeing to it that she doesn't track any mud from the lake in. A brightly-wrapped package is shifted from one hand to the other, as the freshly-minted Harper Master makes her appearance. "I've just gotten back from the main Hold, and I thought I ought to come pay a visit," she explains. "Good evening, Evan, Ara,"

Arakiel turns around and looks at Liesana, "So what did Jueann want?" She looks the harper over. "And what's this on your shoulder?"

Evan nods to Liesana as he comes down the stairs, "Good evening Liesana... Well it's not done yet, but it's coming along well at least.

Liesana glances at the knot with a little smile. For an unsought promotion, someone seems rather pleased with it. "Well, what Jueann wanted was rather tied into this... Apparently the whole fortnight's worth of mental torture was an unorthodox take on a Mastery Exam. Which... I apparently passed." Grin, and she takes the time to look around, giving a nod, and shifting the package again. "Definitely coming along well. This is certainly an excellent location that you've picked."

Evan chuckles, "Good... a Master's exam should be greuling. If not we'd all be masters. And there's nothing worse than having everyone in charge."

Arakiel hmms, "Well congradutklation. Its about time you got some recognition about your work, but I would think Jueann would've gone about it in a different way."

"Oh, I think it qualified as grueling," Liesana allows with a laugh. "Harpers might not have brute force, but it never really occurred to me just how good my Craft was at playing mind games." She's suddenly reminded of the package she's brought, and hands it over with a slightly sheepish smile. "I'm obviously no Woodsmith, but I can handle a chisel... Here, it's a home warming gift, of sorts."

Evan quirks a brow, "I hope it says: tresspass on peril of pain or something like that... we need one of those, don't you think love?

Arakiel chuckles, "Yeap, we like our privacy but we do occasionally want good friends over." Taking the present, "now what can this be?"

Liesana grins, and rolls lightly onto the balls of her feet, before rocking back onto her heels. "Well, why not open it and find out?" she suggests, canting her head to watch.

Evan chuckles and moves so he can see the package when Arakiel unwraps it. "Very well... let's see then

Upon opening the present, Ara starts laughing at the carved sign, "Very very perfect for us?" Don't you think, love?" Showing him the sign that reads: "We have two kinds of visitors: Friends and Corpses". "Now were to put it?"

Liesana's grin shifts to an amusedly pleased smirk. "Thought you might find it apt," she intones. "And I found it most therapeutic, carving it, while I was in the middle of being grilled."

Evan raises a brow, "Well either on the porch... so they're trapped, or on the path as a warning. I rather favor the porch I think

Arakiel chuckles, "Ohh The Porch. Gives them time to think of a good excuse for bugging us."

"A better tactical location, no doubt," agrees Liesana, still looking amused and pleased. Apparently she's been spending some time with her Guard friends, to pick up such lingo. "And on a more practical note, it'll probably last longer, there. I had to use instrument stain on it, after all."

Evan frowns, "You didn't finish it beyond stain? A coat of varnish or polyurethane would certainly be in order

Arakiel smiles as she lays the sign on the table, "Evan, love, she's a harper and not a smith. She haasn't taken all the wood working lessons."

Liesana chuckles. "That, and I made this down at Harper. Instrument stains are all we have, and if I'd made it /here/, someone would've tipped you off. It's meant as more of an indoor piece, anyways, although the porch is sheltered enough."

Evan blinks, "Come now, if you left your instruments just stained they would warp and be destroyed by moisture... I'm sure you have some sort of finishing process

Arakiel shrugs, "If you two will excuse me, I think I need to finish making the bed and unpack upstairs." (I'm falling asleep here. Take care you two."
Arakiel, with swishing of veils, steps to the Loft.

Liesana blinks. "Well of course. We add a top coat of varnish or laquer. Which I did for the sign. But it's meant to protect from humidity and that sort of moisture. Not the elements..." she trails off to give Arakiel a nod. "Indeed, and good evening, Ara."

Evan nods, "Well then, it should be just fine on the porch... thank you very much Liesana." He nods to his wife, "I'll be up shortly dear."

Liesana gives a nod and heads towards the door. "You're quite welcome, Evan. I might not be able to help out in constructing this place, but I wanted to make my own small contribution. I've got some class schedules to make up, but I just wanted to pay a visit."

Evan smiles, "It's quite appreciated... Feel free to stop by any time."

Liesana gives a nod. "Will do... this looks to be a nice, out of the way, place to hide." And with that, and another nod, the Harper trots out again.
