Combinations
The training methods of Muay Thai have become an increase part of the curriculum at the Minnesota Kali Group.
The reason for this is simple. The conditioning of the martial athlete is easily developed to a higher degree following a regiment that allows for a total body workout, that goes at an accelerated  pace for a period of time, followed by a short rest break(recovery), followed by more work. While at the same time training neuromuscular response to stimuli, (the punches and kicks you defend against) that precipitate the proper responses (those are the punches, kicks, knees, and elbows you throw). The structure of the drills also follow the requirements of JKD, in that they are economical in use, effective, and flow in and out of different ranges.

Rick Faye and the MKG has devoted many years to the development of drills and training methods that use the skills and techniques of Muay Thai as taught by Ajarn Chai Sirisute and the TBA of the USA. Rick and the MKG use combinations developed by Chai for us to train in for both everyday recreation and world class competition, and Rick has developed a Rounds Class  format that follows a more blended approach for the MKG, that uses the same techniques but differs from ring combat style by training both leads for a balanced exercise, and conditioning the lower, middle and upper body in alternating sets over a series of rounds. Many of us agree that these "Rounds" classes are the most demanding and rewarding training  we have ever done.
