President's Awards

The Massachusetts Chapter's President's Award honors members for exceptional contributions to the chapter during the current year. This award was started in 1996 to recognize those members who work quietly and tirelessly for the chapter.
1998 President's Awards were given to the following:
| Jim Aplin | For meritorious service as a Director and agreeing to run this year's Show and Auction |
| Henk Borsje | For his work on the Bylaws, being Mr. Membership, and, of course, more of that sage advice |
| Dick Brooks | For opening his garden to the society and all the sage advice that I really needed! |
| Tim Craig | For work on the Bylaws despite health concerns and more of that needed sage advice |
| Ian Donovan | For exceptional effort as VP, fantastic programs, and aid to the president! |
| Barbara Gingras | For keeping me on my toes and the Newsletters going despite adversity. The best darn Corresponding Secretary EVER!! |
| Janet Killeen | For help in virtually all areas and the best darn Recording Secretary EVER! |
| Fred Knippel | For always being there. The list is endless |
| Bea Mac Donald | For chairing the Bylaws Committee! |
| Jim Marchand | For organizing and running a great Show and Auction! |
| CJ Patterson | For so many things it is impossible to list them all not the least of which is keeping the president sane |
| John Perkins | For the Sandy order and a spectacular effort on the Web Page! |
| Sally Perkins | For meritorious duty as a director, running the companion plant sale, stepping in to design an award winning Mass Hort exhibit and much more |
| George Silverman | For exceptional effort in promoting the Chapter and getting the scholarships off the ground! |
