Massachusetts Chapter Activities  Rhododendron 'Aviva Ann' (Brooks)  Picture by S & J Perkins    The Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society was founded in October of 1970.  Our 400 plus members makes us the largest chapter in the American Rhododendron Society.  We have members in all of New England (Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts and Maine) and associate members from all over the world! The benefits of being a member are numerous!  Chapter activities open to the public include the following:  Chapter meetings at the Waltham Field Station, Waltham , MA (near Bentley College)  Auction and Plant sale  public sale, auction and flower show on Sunday of the Memorial day weekend (Waltham Field Station)  Rhododendron exhibit at the MHS Spring Flower Show at Bayside Expo  Rhododendron display gardens at the Case Estates in Weston, MA and Stanley Park in Westfield, MA  Other chapter activities include the following:  Plants For Members propagates rhododendrons at Planeview Nursery in Rhode Island  VanVeen Order and A Sandy Rhododendron Order allows members to purchase rhododendron wholesale  RoseBay is the Chapter's journal  Rhododendron Roundtable Group studies the propagation and garden use of rhododendrons  Species  Study Group studies the genus rhododendron  Garden tours to member gardens and other interesting gardens  Rhododendron hardiness study  Rhododendron flower show in early spring and on Memorial Day weekend at the Auction and Plant sale  Rhododendron foliage show an autumn event celebrating the plants we enjoy year round  Chapter committees include the following:  ARS Annual Rhododendron Conference 2000 Committee  Case Estates Committee  By Laws Committee  Nominating Committee  Honors Committee  Judging Committee  Plant Evaluation and Awards Committee  MHS Flower Show Committee  Chapter awards include the following:  Bronze Medal Award is the highest award the chapter can bestow on a member  President's Awards awarded each year to members who make exceptional service contribution to the chapter  Show Awards and Trophies are given to exhibitors at the flower and foliage shows
