Baked Alaska at Roundtable Potluck Meeting

The Massachusetts Chapter's Roundtable Group, formerly Propagators Group, discusses the 'hands on' aspects of  growing rhododendrons.

Discussions at meetings include 'how to' information on

  • protecting rhododendrons during the winter
  • watering rhododendrons in the garden
  • planting of rhododendron seed
  • caring for rhododendron seedlings
  • selecting rhododendrons and companion plants for the landscape
  • propagating by cuttings
  • labeling of rhododendrons in the garden and green house
  • recording of a collection of rhododendrons.
  • hybridizing rhododendrons.  See the 'Blue Lepidote Project'

The Roundtable Group also tours rhododendron gardens of special interest to members.

Productive members often bring seedlings and rooted cuttings to meetings.  Rare and wild collected seeds have also been distributed through the group meetings.

The meeting are usually held in the Little Red School House at the Case Estates in Weston Massachusetts.
