Member of the House of Burgesses in 1657-8
home called "Whitemarsh" (described for tax purposes in
John B. Boddie's book Virginia Historical Genealogy)
when his tombstone was found at Whitemarsh, it was placed at the foot
of the chancel of the Old Brick Church
He was a close friend and adviser of Berkeley, the Royal Governor
