About Takuu legends
Some comments about this page: Takuu legends always start with the words "Te henua e nnoho .." which I am not going to bother to translate. It has no direct English translation that makes sense. In legends people and animals communicate either by talking or by "ttani", or poetry. In the legends below I will often refer to a ttani by saying something like "X cried .." or "X's tanni went as follows", etc.

Well ... here we go
We present here stories and legends of the Takuu people; stories of their origin, stories that
teach, stories about their history, etc. In Takuu legends one is transported to the time when
animals talked, when ordinary people could converse with the gods face to face, when the powers of the universe
were summoned at the lift of the hand ... and when a chant could raise up a storm to crush an enemy. Read on, if you dare !!
