I was first introduced to DANTE FOX in the spring of 1982. I worked in a club called "The Woodstock" owned by Old Boy Shultz and son Jonnie Shultz in Anaheim, California!! My older brother Darrell was the stage manager and close friend to Mark and Jack. I was all of 17 years old. The first night I saw Dante Fox play, I was amazed by their sound and stage presence and became an instant fan of their music. I met Mark, Jack, Gary and Don Costa, the original bass player before Lorne Black at an after hours party. Don, however, left to play with Ozzy and was replaced by Lorne not long after that first show. Jack turned me on to a Dante Fox tee and I don't think I missed a show that whole spring and summer. However, I left Anaheim about the time the boys changed their name to Great White (named s after Mark in case a few of you out there didn't know that). Below, you will find promo photos, Us with the band and links to Great White sites.

summer of 82

In late summer 1982 the band changed their name and released their first ep "OUT OF THE NIGHT" Which they finaced themselves, It was the first non major label act to get heavy airplay on L.A. Radio station KMET. The GREAT WHITE Buzz was on!!! All of southern California Rock Radio stations were playing G.W.!!!!!

Jack Russell (Lead Vocals) Lorne Black (Bass)

Mark Kendall (Lead Guitar) Gary Holland (Drums).

Over the years, Great White has changed members but still kept that hard rockin' blues music. In 1986, Audie Desbrow replaced Gary Holland on drums and Tony Montana stepped in as bass player. Also adding Michael Lardie on keyboards and whatever else he can get his hands on, Great White was truly on their way to rock stardom!!! In 1987, Great White made the top 30 with the release of "Once Bitten"! 1989 brought much more success for the band with the follow up album "Twice Shy", climbing all the way up into the top 10 in the U.S. In 1992 Tony Montana left the band and was replaced by Dave Spitz (ex-White Lion). Dave recorded "Psycho City". Teddy Cook, who also filled in as bassist for a few years, was replaced by Sean McNabb (ex-Quiet Riot). Great White embarked on a world tour in 1999, promoting the release of their newest masterpiece, "Can't Get There From Here".

If you get the chance to catch these sharks live, do it!!!! You won't be disappointed!!!
