Chapter Meeting attendance for most chapters is quite poor. For having roughly 500 members in our lodge, and having next to none of the people attend Chapter Meetings really says something about the members. Many people are not active because they are not sure exactly what the Order of the Arrow is about. There is a section on the Japeechen Lodge web page that describes the Order.(
http://japeechen.tripod.com/purpose.htm) You see, most people think that the Order of the Arrow is just like what they went through with the Ordeal. Well I can reasure you that it is not. The Ordeal is a test of Strength, Courage, and the way that you follow directions. If you do well than you are admitted into the Order. That is the line where most brothers stop. Well don't, there are many good things to do as a brother. For starters you can go to Conclaves, Jamborees etc. Plus if you see that someone is wearing the symbolic sash than you are automaticly friends with that person. All brothers from around the world are "Firm Bound in Brotherhood" and that is one of the great things of scouting. So please don't stop at the Ordeal, there are many things you can do as a brother.(It really looks good on your resume and Eagle description)
