A Catholic Country .

Together with Italy and Ireland Poland is the stronghold of Catholicism in Europe. Christmas, Easter and other religious festivities are held in great importance and celebrated with the family. The picture above shows the Easter day on the Market Square in Krakow. Polish people are very fond of their cemeteries where they all gather during the 'all souls' festivity in November. I know it might sound odd but I suggest you to visit the old cemetery in Warsaw, it is a unique sight particularly in those days.

The pics above and below were taken in Chestokowa which is to Poland what Fatima is to Portugal and Lourdes to France. The holy citadel stands wide and impressive at the very heart of the city and attracts pilgrims and visitors everyday. Inside you'll come across people circling a church on their knees in pray, placing offers, crying and staring at the black Madonna. Even if you are not a believer you'll be blown away by the the place whose air feels like filled with hopes and sorrow.
