The harmony of life is cultivated, attained, and maintained through an attitude of willingness, openness, and surrender. Like a guitar string we must be free, motionless, and flexible. In a moments notice we must be ready to be struck into action. Let's imagine for a moment that Life ItSelf is the master musician, and we are guitar strings. The musician knows where every note is on the guitar. He never has to guess. As he plays one note he already anticipates his next. Sometimes the musician follows the exact outline of the composition note for note. Sometimes there is a need for improvisation, due to the need for the creative flow of the moment, or because some type of conflict occurred during the performance like maybe a string breaks. Regardless of what the musician chooses to do the guitar always response to the wishes of the of the musician. Could you imagine what even the greatest composition would sound like if the guitar string chose to resist the trained fingers, and artistic knowledge of the performer? It sounds ridiculous doesn't it? Yet, how many of us are there who are rebellious guitar strings, unwilling to take direction, unwilling to be open minded, unwilling to be motionless until direction is given? So many of our anxieties, conflicts, obstacles, and problems of daily living could be easily avoided if only we could learn to take on the attributes of the guitar string. When a guitar string is struck it instantly responses to the direction, and motion assigned to it. Once its action is completed it returns it its original position, of rest awaiting its next assignment. Our Life can and will sound forth with perfect melody and harmony once we learn to respond to the issues of life as the guitar string responses to the wishes of the performer. The attitude of willingness, openness, and surrender is the harmony of Life waiting for all who have the desire to be in tune to the song being played throughout the universe.
