The Screws
1995: JOHNNY BONES (Aggressive Behavior, Purr.) forms a
band in the back room of his 8th street row house. After many practices and couple of shows they disband and life went on.
A few years later Irie (A.S.H.
Regime, Union Strike) on bail and between charges, attempt to reform (The band that is). Unable to find a committed drummer
they put the project on the back burner.
A few months later Brains
the Sweater Bishop (Sisters of Morrissey) having been committed by his psychiatrist, agrees to give it a shot. After a year
or so the band parts ways with then guitarist Whistle Dick and his girlfriend Yoko.
MOOKIE (Senseless
Abuse) was approached by the three Screws and finally agreed to play. After he was almost kidnaped by a UFO cult. Looking
to improve on the already rocking sound, they search for a second full time guitarist. During their search they happen upon Doyle
(DUI), dumpster diving behind a local diner in South East DC. With half a brain and complete lack of common sense, Doyle joins the fearsome foursome,
on the promise of a chicken dinner, clean socks and a one eyed prostitute with a french poodle. the Screws completed
their line up. Rooted in the D.C. punk scene and having played with many different bands (the heavy metal mime troupe
just didnt get off the ground). We bring back the unique sound and style that can only be found in D.C. Were more than a band,
were family, so join us in our dysfunction, youve finally found a place to call home.
