MaRs is a rilly amazing manga. i've found sum sites which totally trash the manga, but i have to disagree, MaRs by FuYuMi SoRyO spans 15 epic volumes and is truly an incredible and unique manga. it is also the first manga i have ever read, but don't let this discredit me, b.c. i have read sum other works*well, namedly one, MaRmAlAde BoY, but i have read many reviews and sampled others as well* and MaRs is the best so far. in fact i used to hate manga, thinking it was gay and continued to think so until my friend*laura* shoved MaRs in my face and forced me to read it. and i ended up loving it. so for all u anime haters out there, u never no until u try.
in these 15 volumes u become very close to the characters and grow to love them. the characters are very well developed and little bits of them are released throughout the series, which i luv b.c. i HATE when authors give u all the info on them*characters* n then it's like an information overload, which is annoying. the characters are very lovable*even KiRa the main girl character* which is amazing to me and my friends b.c. in most manga or anime tv series we rilly hate the main female character as she can come off as flakey and extremely annoying. most times we want to kill the main character for these reasons or also b.c. the main male character is just sOoOo hot that we can't stand that she has him! *sad but tru* v_v =o <--*sighing anime character* n e wayz in this manga, n it is the only one believe me! u actually are rooting for the relationship and u rilly want it to work out. which is a tribute to the author's greatness, as she has written a manga with a female character we DON'T want to kill!!! also, FuYuMi SoRyO's MaRs isn't u'r regualr manga which is mainly just eye candy porn*par example: Love Hina*, but actually has substance. along the lines of not being regular manga, FuYuMi creates not u'r average shoujo manga either, sure it may follow the basic*and i mean very basic* plot line of good girl meets bad boy,* which everyone has totally overdone, but MaRs is so much more than advertised on Tokyopop, but delves much deeper. MaRs talks about a lot of serious issues,which most authors wouldn't even dare to touch on. however FuYuMi doesn't overdo that aspect of the story line and doesn't dwell on a lot of the issues which can get quite annoying while some authors do that. instead she carefully outlines everything and when it's over, it's over, and it sometimes, if it's an extremely major aspect, comes up again. the story line is crisp and clean, deep and thoughtful and the author also throws in some comical situations which breaks up the severity of the storyline. some of the situations KiRa and ReI get into are a little extreme, but not at all unrealistic, which is wut i love b.c. MaRs is a realistic love story with real problems and not all that lovey-dovey crap. MaRs is a rilly great read about the unbreakable love btw 2 ppl and the obstacles they must over come to b together.
FuYuMi SoRyO 's drawings are clean and precise, with little or no background. the background provided is very simple, just to give the reader a setting. most sketches are done with no background at all so the focus is more on the characters and plot, to not distract the reader from the story. also the eyes of the characters are very expressive, which is a feat most artists have troubles acheiving or don't achieve at all, but FuYuMi manages to pull it off. the english translations are also fairly good. however sum parts are a bit sketchy as the tranlation doesn't make sense with a saying that normal north americans *or westerners* would say, but however u do get the jist of it. these translation problems are understandable b.c. for sumthings there rilly isn't a good direct translation. MaRs is also published in the traditional manga style*left to right* so none of the author's drawing or ideas get screwed up, b.c. when they publish it "western style" they have to flip all the drawings.
all in all MaRs ius a magnificent manga and read,i would even recommend it for all of u anime-haters out there. just pick it up and give it a try and i promise u, u will b sucked into the story and immediatly love it. and if u don't then u can lick my ass b.c. u suk!!!
