A fresh copy of the registry is smaller.

This will make your PC start faster and consume less memory. How Note: If you are experience problems with the registry or suspect that your registry is corrupted correct this problem before trying this tip.

1. Backup the registry by running scanregw.

2. Run RegEdit and export the registry to C:\Windows\NewReg.reg

3. Restart your PC. Press F8 during boot and choose command prompt only.

4. Enable a 8MB disk cache with writebehind caching by typing smartdrv 8192 8192 C+.

5. Change to Windows directory at the command prompt type RegEdit /C NewReg.reg. Note: This procedure can take a few minutes to run. If the procedure does not complete restore your registry from the backup and continue.
