BRANCH NEWS

On behalf of the branch I would like to congratulate Connie on being awarded the MBE for services to the community, especially for her work when she was Welfare Officer for our Branch I first met Connie in 1975 whilst I was experiencing my second MS attack. I had a 2 year old toddler and a 5 month old baby. I was in a depressed mood and finding it difficult to cope. Connie came to visit me and her positive attitude and encouragement made me realise that there was a way forward. Since then, she has always been available for advice, a listening ear and friendship.

Despite Connie’s own MS and considerable health problems, she continues to fight the corner for local people with MS. Connie has the ability to identify the problems facing people in the community and works tirelessly in order that something positive is achieved. As well as her commitment to many community projects, Connie was involved in setting up the Stevenage Young Carers (Befrienders), which has been implemented across many countries and she is also involved with many health issues.  Among Connie’s qualities are her selflessness, determination and honesty. Connie’s husband Huw, has been paramount to her achievements.

Congratulations Connie, we all wish you good health and continued success for the future Liz Wood

Stevenage Day ♦ June 10th 2001

Sitting here looking out at the snow, June seems a long time away but the planning and preparations for Stevenage Day on Saturday June 10th are well underway. Sandra will once again be co-ordinating our stall for the day and, once again, we shall be running a Tombola. We would ask you all to consider donating a prize.
You or members of your family or friends may have unwanted or duplicated Christmas presents, maybe the aftershave or perfume Auntie Mabel bought just isn't your style !!

Whatever it may be we could make use of it, to the benefit of the MS Society, our Branch and you, our members. We are looking for both adult and children's prizes.

Contact Sandra on 224392 and if necessary we can arrange to collect items from you. To make the day a success we need to get started now so please phone, sooner rather than later.

Please put the date in your diaries, we would be delighted to hear from members who could help out on the day. It need only be for an hour but sharing the load makes the day enjoyable for us all.

Transport difficulties ?

For some members, getting to Branch meetings can be difficult due to transport problems. If this is the reason you haven’t been able to attend in the past please let us know as help is at hand. We can arrange a lift for any of you, with wheelchair if required, as long as you are able to transfer to a car seat, we can accommodate you.

Ring Eddy Roethenbaugh on 238065 and he will make the necessary arrangements with you.
