SHOOTING AT RED LIGHTS AND HITTING SWITCHES
You start with a long movie, showing you the ship that you're going to be exploring.
Shoot the 4 Red Lights which you can target with "L" in order to lower the forcefield.
To lower the next forcefield, go into your "Scan Visor" (Left on the control pad) and target the Blue Glowing Spinning thing (Blue Switch). Then, hold down "L" to download the info and put the forcefield button online. Now, shoot the Red Lights (there's 6 of them...look up).
Enter your first door. There's a bunch of things that you can Scan, but continue on and look for the Blue Switch. Scan it with "L" to repressurize the airlock. You'll encounter your first enemies...little bugs. Do some Scanning and learn some stuff. Then, move on. Blow up the debris in your way (hold "A" - Charge Beam) and you'll soon get a cutscene of a small passage that you can take. Enter into Morph Ball ("X") and follow the passage. You've found the MAP ROOM.
Continue on and Scan another Blue Switch to activate the elevator to Deck Beta. You'll have to enter into your Morph Ball to get through a collapsed hallway. Then, you'll be in a room with some enemies. Do some Scanning for fun. Keep going and you'll be in the, "Biohazard Containment Room." Scan. You'll find a new "Pirate Data" log has been added to your Log Book on one of your Scans of a monitor (this is the first of many, many, log book entries that you're going to get. They don't mean anything...they're basically trophies). Anyway, go over, Scan, and activate the Blue Switch and you'll activate the platform to the upper level of this room. Go through the door up there.
Keep going and you'll get another Blue Switch, so activate that. Also, in this room, look up while Scanning and you'll get a new "Research" entry in your log book (Missile Ammo). Go ahead and enter the Access to Deck Gamma elevator.
You're going to have another Blue Switch to activate. Do it. You'll be told that you need to put a metal sphere into the door. Enter into Morph Ball and roll onto the hole in the floor in front of the big red door. Enter that room and you'll have to deal with 2 Gun Turrets. Then, on your left, there will be a Save Station. Go in and save.
Now, activate the Blue Switch , enter into Morph Ball and roll into the hole in front of the door. You'll get a cutscene of Samus going down an elevator and you'll have to deal with your first Boss, the
PARASITE QUEEN Scan the Queen to get a new entry in your Log Book. Then, go to your Log Book and you'll see that there is a weakness in her mouth. The forcefield around the Parasite Queen will be spinning. Just target her, and shoot rapidly...a few shots will get through, but, more importantly, wait for the forcefield to stop spinning and it'll open up a large gap for you to attack her. So, just target her, keep moving left or right in a circle (push "B" to do a quick side-hop) and wait for the openings.
Now, you have to escape. Go through the door it puts you in front of, then, run run run. Activate the Blue Switches as you go. Hop up some broken debris, then deal with some enemies, continue running. You'll be in a series of tubes/pipes and if you Scan the dozens of little creatures that come out, you'll get a new entry in your Log Book. Here's where I entered into Morph Ball and started cruising while laying bombs down behind me. Continue rolling. You'll soon get to a larger tunnel which has a big plunger moving back and forth. Follow it while it retracts and go into the door that it will reveal on the opposite side of where you entered. You'll soon be out and you'll get a cutscene of a big metallic pterodactyl. You'll also be notified that you can use your Grapple. So, look up and in front of you and you'll see the Grapple Icon. While looking at it, hold "L" and keep it held. You'll be swinging, release "L" so that you can progress through the door. You'll go up an elevator to Deck Alpha. At this point, you'll be notified that you have a suit malfunction. Basically, this means that all that cool stuff that you just used, i.e. Grapple Beam, Morph Ball, etc., is now scattered about the planet below. Anyway, blow through the debris at the top of the elevator and continue through a series of small and twisting hallways. Just keep moving forward. You'll soon make it outside.
