WELCOME
You are now on the planet. Do some exploring.
Go into the door, nearest to your ship...kind of above it. Continue through the cave and you'll come out into an open area. Go through the door on the ground level. You'll get to a Blue Switch. Activate it. It's the access to "Chozo Ruins West." Continue on through the door and you'll get a cutscene of the Ruins. There will be a locked door on your left. Hop up and you'll see another door (unlocked) on your left. There is also another door above and ahead of you, but, it's currently a dead end, since your Morph Ball isn't functional.
MISSILE LAUNCHER So, enter the door on your left, work your way around until you get to the, "Ruined Gallery." In this room, you'll find another locked door on the ground level. Stay up on the up above level and work your way around the right wall towards the door in front of you. Keep going and you'll get to the, "Hive Totem." Walk onto the middle platform and you'll get a cutscene of the area filling up with toxic water and a ship. So, the ship is gonna send out some red flying dudes. Kill each wave of them, then, the ship will glow red. Target it, then, shoot it. Do this 3 times.
Proceed to the door. Pick up the MISSILE LAUNCHER on the way. Now, head through the door. Grab the ENERGY TANK. Also in this room, there is a hole which you can Morph Ball into, if the Morph Ball was working. So, for now, backtrack to the, "Ruined Gallery," and open the locked door on the ground level there. It's a MAP ROOM! So now you have a map.
MORPH BALL Continue to backtrack out, and go to the locked door on the left of where you originally entered the ruins area. This one couldn't be opened without the Missile Launcher, remember? Enter the door, work your way through and you'll get a cutscene showing you your Morph Ball; but first you have to take care of some creatures. Shoot the little creatures, then you'll have to fight the Plated Beetle. Target him, then when he charges you, "B" out of the way, then shoot his Red Rear End. The wall will fall and you get the MORPH BALL.
So many options, so many options. Well, get back to the, "Main Plaza." Go back to the door on the left, passed the one that used to be locked. This is where you got the Missile Launcher. So, head all the back to the, "Hive Totem," then into the, "Transport Access North." You'll see a hole for your Morph Ball. This is also where you got the Energy Tank. So, go through the hole. You'll be faced with a sort of side-scrolling elevator/lift puzzle. You'll soon get to, "Transport to Magmoor Caverns North." Activate the elevator by Scanning the Blue Switch. But, for now, don't go up, instead, head out the door on the right, which will eventually loop you back to the, "Main Plaza." This will bring you to the, "Vault Access," door. Continue and you'll find, "The Vault." There are 3 locks to it, but we can't open that now, as we don't yet have the Morph Ball Bombs. Head on out to the, "Main Plaza." Right before you get there, you'll get another ENERGY TANK.
CHARGE BEAM Okay, so you're back in the, "Main Plaza." Hop up and hop up again, then cross the bridge to get to the door which leads to the, "Ruined Fountain Access," room. It's the room where you were blocked off from going before, because you didn't have the Morph Ball. So, enter into Morph Ball and proceed. You'll then be in the, "Ruined Fountain." The bugs provide light for you, so don't kill them all. Work your way around the right wall, hopping on the platforms provided. There's a green spewing fountain. If you are at the green fountain, and are look at the door you came in (across from you), you'll see that there is a door behind you, and a door on your right. Take the door on the right. Use your Missile Launcher to open the next door.
You are now in the, "Arboretum" (You will see that the "Arboretum" meets up with the "Transport to Magmoor Caverns North"...this is eventually where you need to go but, for now, just bypass it). You have to do some stuff in this room later, but, for now, head out the locked door (use your Missile Launcher on it) on the other side of where you entered.
You'll be in the, "Gathering Hall." There is a non-operational water pump in this room. There are 2 doors you can go through in this room (not counting the one you came in). The locked door is a Save Station. Use your Missile Launcher to open it and Save. Now, head out and go through the other door. You'll get to a door that needs your Missile Launcher (if you're out of Missiles, backtrack and kill stuff until you get a yellow/orange Missile icon out of one of them).
You are now in the, "Watery Hall." There are a bunch of platforms. Work your way around the water-level platforms. You'll have a RUNIC SYMBOL (1 of 4) to activate on one of the platforms. Then, at the end of the water-level platforms, there is another RUNIC SYMBOL (2 of 4) to activate. Now, work your way back and start hopping up the vertical platforms. On your second platform or so, turn around and look back towards the door you came in. Above it and to the right, Scan, and you'll activate another RUNIC SYMBOL (3 of 4). Now, keep jumping up the platforms and you'll see another RUNIC SYMBOL (4 of 4) to activate. When you get all four, you'll hear a noise and a cutscene. The large gate can now be opened. If, for some reason, you think you've gotten all four, but the gate didn't open, then, go around again and Scan them. That will re-activate them. So, go up to the gate and Scan the Hammer Icon. Congrats, you have acquired the CHARGE BEAM (hold "A"). Looking towards the place where you got your Charge Beam, on your right, you'll see a hole that your Morph Ball could go down, if you had the Morph Ball Bombs. Now, to get back, shoot the green laser producing eye things on the wall and go through. Work your way back to the, "Gathering Hall." Go to the Save Station and Save.s
MORPH BALL BOMBS Now we're back in the, "Gathering Hall." Near the non-operational water pump, you'll be able to see a rock platform which you can jump to. Do it, and continue to jump across and up, across and up, working your way up until you see that you need to enter into Morph Ball. Do so, and you'll come out on a platform which leads to a door. Keep in mind, you are still in the, "Gathering Hall," just really high up now. So, jump across the platform and go through the door. You'll see a hatch that the Morph Ball could fit down if you could blow open the hatch, but alas, you must go through the green lasers. Go through the door. You are now in the, "Energy Core." The forward and right path are blocked by toxic water, so, head down the left path. Proceed and you'll have to enter into Morph Ball. Keep going, open the door, and you'll have to face an Incinerator Drone. This guy blows fire at you, meanwhile, there are some bugs around trying to get at you. So, Scan the drone to find the weak spot. The Drone will pop up a little Red target out of its, "head." When that happens, shoot it. Repeat, until he's dead. I used the "R" button to look at the top of the Drone, then, hit "L" to target it. Otherwise, it just seemed to want to target the middle of the Drone. You have acquired the MORPH BALL BOMB! Now, there is so much to do! Okay, still in this room, opposite the door you came in, blow a hole in the wall so that the Morph Ball can fit. Go into this back room and you'll find a MISSILE EXPANSION. This increases your Missile capacity by 5. Backtrack and work your way out. You can use a BOMB underneath you to propel you upwards when you are the Morph Ball.
TOXIC WATER PUZZLE Now, right when you get back into the, "Energy Core," on your left, you'll see a monster that will swallow you if you are the Morph Ball. Get swallowed and set some bombs off while your in him. That will blow the monster up and allow you to enter a, "Standard Morph Ball Spot." See the two wires/cables which are glowing on the floor? Position yourself in between them, and plant a bomb underneath you so that you get stuck in the slot on the wall. Then, set off another bomb. This will cause the Toxic Water to drain, TEMPORARILY. So, go out the little slot that is provided, and do the same thing in the Morph Ball Slot below. This will cause some platforms to raise. Once you've activate that machine, you won't have to worry about the water levels anymore, but the platforms are only raised, TEMPORARILY. So, hop on the platforms and enter the opening they allow you to access, go up and around and you'll see yet another machine that you have to activate. Do the Morph Ball Slot thing and this will raise the final two platforms you need to access the door up above. So, go out and hop up the platforms until you reach the door. Enter, and you'll see your first, "Magnetic Rail System," but you can't use it yet. Go through the hole. You are now in the, "Furnace." There is an ENERGY TANK. Time to head out of here. Backtrack to the, "Gathering Hall," and Save. Then, continue to backtrack to the, "Arboretum."
FIGHT FLAAHGRA (BOSS) - VARIA SUIT So, now you're in the, "Arboretum." If you remember, this is where there is a Morph Ball path which is blocked by some stones. Now, you can get rid of those stone/blocks. But first, you have to activate some RUNIC SYMBOLS. Begin by hopping up around the tree. You'll see some Red Tangle Weed; there is a RUNIC SYMBOL (1 of 4) under the grass. Next, continue to hop up the tree. When you get to your first wooden bridge type thing, turn around and on the tree, you'll see another RUNIC SYMBOL (2 of 4). Continue to hop up to the right and you'll see the path for the Morph Ball. Right after the little path for the Morph Ball, look at the left side wall and there will be another RUNIC SYMBOL there (3 of 4). Continue on, there will be another little Morph Ball path with some Red Tangle weed. Keep hopping upwards and soon you'll see the RUNIC DOOR that you're trying to get through. Hop up to the door, turn around, and on the tree you'll see another RUNIC SYMBOL (4 of 4). Yay! Now the door is open.
Enter into Morph Ball and blow up the hole, then continue and use your Missile Launcher on the next door. Continue on and soon you'll be in the, "Sun Chamber." Here, you have to fight Flaahgra. Here's the basic gist: you have to knock a sunlight mirror, then, go into Morph Ball mode and go down the path towards the monster and plant a bomb in there. Here's the more detailed plan: At first, there is only one mirror that you need to knock out of place. So, find the mirror with the sunlight coming out of it, go behind it, and you'll see a red target that you can shoot. Do it. This will give you a cutscene and show you how you're supposed to go into the monster. So, get into Morph Ball and glide on in and lay a bomb. Now, Flaahgra will have 2 mirrors. Hit the one mirror, just like before, except now, lay into the monster itself until you "stun" him...you'll see him reel back and he might do a high-pitched scream. Then, Morph Ball your way to the other mirror and knock that. Once you have both mirrors knocked, you can glide on into the monster and lay a bomb again. Now, you'll have 3 mirrors to knock. Just keep up the pattern: hit a mirror, stun the monster, Morph Ball to the next mirror, hit the mirror, stun the monster, etc. You'll have to do this for the 4 mirrors as well.
You've killed Flaahgra. Your reward is a better suit, the VARIA SUIT. This suit will protect you from heat (remember the "Furnace" and the "Magma Pool" room that we couldn't go through earlier?).
TYING UP LOOSE ENDS - HEADING TO MAGMOOR CAVERNS Go out the only door you can (the one you came in is blocked by vines). This will lead to the, "Sun Tower," and the, "Transport to Magmoor Caverns North." We don't want to take this yet (although you can), as there is still some unfinished business on this level. You may want to Save somewhere, also. So, head to the, "Main Plaza."
On the way to the, "Main Plaza," you'll go through the, "Vault," again. This time, I've figured it out. Go into one of the locks with your Morph Ball, then, plant a bomb there. Now, it's a matter of experimentation and timing to get to the 2nd and 3rd locks. The 2nd one is kinda easy, the 3rd one requires some patience. Just keep trying to set bombs (play with the timing) so that when your falling back down, there is a bomb to propel you back up. Anyway, if you get into the Vault, you'll get a Missile Expansion which ups your Missile capacity by 5.
So, get back to the, "Main Plaza." Now, we have some blocked off areas. The Ruined Shrine we can't progress through because we need the Boost Ball. The Magma Pool we can't get through, because we need the Grappling Hook. And, the Furnace we can't get through because we need the Spider Ball. So, head to the Question Mark, "Transport to Magmoor Caverns North." Go there.
