Supertrain Site Sources

Archive of American Television
Includes the 13-part interview with Fred Silverman.  Information provided in the interview was used across the "Supertrain" site.
Future Life, May 1979
Includes the article, "Designing Supertrain" with pictures of the train's interiors.
The Last Great Ride
This is Brandon Tartikoff's 1995 story about his days with NBC-TV.  It really doesn't feature a great amount of "Supertrain" information.  Remember Tartikoff had little to do with NBC during the days of "Supertrain," but the series is mentioned.  Anyone with an interest in network TV and especially NBC will enjoy the time spent reading this entertaining Random House publication.
Super Star Heroes
Inernational Modeler
Railroad Modeler April, 1979
Defunct magazine that devoted eight pages to a great "Supertrain" article titled "SUPER MODEL" by Ed Stauss that includes numerous color and b&w images from the production of the series.
TV Guide March 17-23, 1979
TV Guide March 17-23, 1979
Contains the four page article "SUPERTOY" with  color pictures of "Supertrain" sets and models.  "Supertrain" is pre-empted that week and is therefore not among the listings.
Up The Tube: Prime-Time TV and The Silverman Years
Excellent look at both the career of Fred Silverman and the world of network TV in the 1970s.  This 300 hundred page book was published by Vikinig Press in 1981 and written by Sally Bedell.  Not often seen, but also not difficult to track down a copy.  It is a must read for any student of television with an interest in the 1970s.

The 80s TV Themes SuperSite

The 80s TV Themes SuperSite is an awesome resource for a variety of network TV audio and video clips. In the 'Comedy' section, you'll find one of the "Supertrain" main title themes. Also check the 'Promos' section for a great collection of NBC related IDs and Promos.

TV Party: How NBC Got Its Groove Back

Great site devoted to the history of network television. This section reviews NBC's history from the Silverman Era of the late '70s through the Tartikoff Era of the '80s. "Supertrain" is included with pictures and a download of an episode teaser!

KSDK-TV 5 St. Louis

There's no "Supertrain" information here, but just for fun you can take a spin around News Channel 5 KSDK-TV's site.  KSDK-TV 5 was the NBC affiliate that I grew up watching in my home near St. Louis, Missouri.

MS Supertrain Train Simulator

Ever wanted to be the engineer on "Supertrain"???  Now you can!  Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Cimafranca, you may download his add-on that puts "Supertrain" into the TRAINZ simulator game.
