The Garou pride themselves on being Gaia's guardians,
her tacticians and military leaders, her last line of defense against those who
would harm her and yet there is an entire world they know nothing about, a world
they constantly ignore, a world they feel is too small to be of concern. There are Garou, however that wonder about the
reality of this situation. They are the Garou that walk through the forest and
see a spider hiding under every leaf, crawling along every log, spinning webs
among every branch, blade and bush. These are the Garou that have noticed just
how many insects there are and just how prevalent spiders seem to be. These are
the Garou that wonder just how powerful the Ananasi really are. Knowledge on the Ananasi is extremely limited. So few
Garou pay attention to spiders and even less give thought about what the
existence of spider shifters actually means. To the Garou Nation, the War of
Rage is lesson enough. Maybe mistakes were made, but the spider's web is the
very epitome of the Weaver that is driving humans to destroy the earth with
their great technologies. The Ananasi encouraged the technological web the
humans started spinning. Infact, the Ananasi probably taught the humans how to
communicate so well with the Weaver in the first place. For the longest time, the Garou Nation classified the
Ananasi as a fallen race, one that did not survive the Wars of Rage. However,
this attitude has changed in recent times. It has come to light among the
warriors of the Amazon and some Glass Walkers in the cities that there are one
or two spiders that are more than what they seem to be. These spider shifters
seem to be antisocial and solitary, isolationist to the point of aggression. The Garou of the Amazon report that there are very
few Ananasi in existence, but the few that survive are highly intelligent and
command alien powers. The Amazon warriors have reported that, in the case of the
Ananasi, the War of Rage was correct. They have witnessed the Ananasi wield powers akin to the
will workers that serve the goals of the Weaver so slavishly,
as well as powers that have clearly come from the Wyrm. The Ananasi are a race
fallen from Gaia, shattered by the madness of the Wyrm, their mentor, and the megalomania
of the Weaver, whom they call Queen and Mother. These are creatures
beyond redemption, and should be sent before Gaia Herself for judgment. Stories are whispered amongst the Garou Nation that
in the city things are slightly different. Cut off from the reality facing the
other Garou, the Glass Walkers, and even the Bone Gnawers, are rumored to have
worked with Ananasi in the past, unknowing of the treatment the other Garou
experience at the hands of the Amazonian and Asian were-spiders. Asian Garou
have heard tales about Stargazers that meet and exchange information with Kumo
allies. The Garou Nation don't know the full truth of this, or how wide-spread
such contact is, but there would appear to be cause for concern. For the three
tribes concerned, such contact has been known by very few and Glass Walkers and
Stargazers have reported alliances against foes of the Garou, as well as foes
against the Ananasi, and for other, apparently more esoteric, needs. These Garou
allege that the Ananasi are at war with themselves, a complex, political and
ideological war that could be played to the Garou's advantage against the
Ananasi themselves. The Garou Nation treats this knowledge as suspect, assuming
it to have issued forth as bait from the Wyrm-tongued mouths of the
blood-suckers themselves. For now, the Garou keep the Ananasi at arm's length
unless forced into conflict - wondering, perhaps, if the humans remember a
Delirium-fogged truth in the story of the Spider and the Fly.
