The Garment Manufacturing Technology department of NIFT, Hyderabad was started in 1995 as one of the founding departments. The programme is divided into four semesters (two years).

Garment Production Machinery and Equipments,
Fundamentals of Technology for Apparel Manufacturing,
Textile Science, Management Process, Principles and Practices,
Pattern making, Garment construction,
Fundamentals of Computers, Spreading and Cutting of Apparel Products;, Basics of Applied Production Processes,
Work Study for Apparel Manufacturing, Operation Researc,
Import/ Export procedures, Trade documentation and quota policies, Apparel Standards, Specifications and Quality Control,
Fabric Dyeing and Printing, Industrial Pattern making and grading,
Apparel Production Control, Fabric and Garment Finishing,
Apparel Marketing and Merchandising,
Personnel Management and Industrial Relations,
Managerial Economics, CAD/ CAM for Apparel Products,
Costing of Apparel Products, Product Engineering and Plant Layout.

Summer Internship: 8 weeks, undertaken at the end of the second semester. Through this internship the students gain a practical insight into the garment industry.

Diploma Project: Diploma project is an important part of the course. Through the final diploma project students carry out research on important issues faced by the industry as a whole, or a particular sponsoring factory.
