"Knight Rider... A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist... Micheal Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless. In a world of criminals who operate above the law."

That's the opening of the show. The show ran from 1982-1986. It stared David Hasselhoff, Edward Mulhare, Patricia Mcpherson, Rebecca Holden, Peter Parros, and the voice of K.I.T.T. is William Daniels (whom also played Mr. Feeny in the TV show Boy Meets World). Micheal Knight (David Hasselhoff) was an under cover cop whose real name was micheal Long. On aN undercover mission that went bad Micheal was shot in the face, in the desert, with his 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. After that Wiltin Knight, played by Richard Basehart, flew a helicopter out to get Micheal Long. Wilton Knight was a multi-billionaire who started a non-government agency called F.L.A.G. (Foundation for Law And Goverment). He had Devin Miles(Edward Mulhare) in charge of the foundation. After Wilton Knight picked up Micheal Long from the desert he gave Micheal a new face. A face that looks just like his evil son Garth Knight, whom was also played by David Hasselhoff. When Micheal woke up from his trauma he was wondering what was going on in the next building so he went and took a look that's where he met K.I.T.T. (Knight Industries Two Thousand). A talking car (William Daniels) who is also indistructable. Well Micheal and K.I.T.T. set out to stop the people that shot him in the face, and that was the beginning of KNIGHT RIDER.

The sound you hear is when K.I.T.T. or K.A.R.R.  "TURBO BOOST" like in the pictures above!

karrpic.jpg

In the first season there was an episode called "TRUST DON'T RUST". There was an evil twin just like K.I.T.T. but he was called K.A.R.R. (Knight Automated Roving Robot). Peter Cullen did the voice for K.A.R.R. But in the third season, for the episode "K.I.T.T. vs K.A.R.R.", voice artist Paul Frees takes over for Peter Cullen, and doesn't receive any credit like William Daniels does for K.I.T.T. This trick gives the car an identity of it's own.

When you see K.A.R.R. in the first episode he is all black just like K.I.T.T. But in the second episode he has a yellow scanner and his license plate says "K.A.R.R." and he is a two tone color he's black and sliver.

K.I.T.T. was a highly advanced Pontiac Trans-Am car designed for the Foundation for Law and Government by a team that included Dr. Bonnie Barstow. With an apparent cost of $11,400 the super automobile was designed to preserve human life and fight crime, though by nature it was benevolent and compassionate. Its primary objective of preserving life was stored into K.I.T.T.'s Master Persona Matrix. KITT's artificial intelligence was so advanced that it had its personality, often exchanging conversations and forming a bond with Michael Knight.
