Soulful Chat

I hope that this site will generate enough Emails for me to use this page to display them. This, in turn, should encourage people to come forward with their views and in the end we may be able to get some sort of threads going where we can all enjoy a bit of debate about "The Scene"
Any mails put on this site will obviously be open to comments from anyone who reads them.

Foz: Just came across your site while surfing and spent an enjoyable half hour reading it. The stuff about the Locarno bought back lots of memories and you are right about the toilets. Still not beaten to this day, as far as I know.

Nice read mate. Used to go to most of the places you talk about. Will keep checking back.

I have not been to a northern soul night for over twenty years, do you think us fat forty somethings can still do it?

mick t.

Hi I was searching the net for Northern Soul related sites and I came across yours so I thought I'd just drop you a line to let you know about the Goldmine/Soul Supply site at: http://users.firstnet.co.uk/~goldsoul/

I'm sure you've probably seen these pages before but they now contain track listings for ALL the CD's in the collection including Northern, Modern, Deep Soul & Funk, many of which now have Real Audio sample tracks. There's also a new competition page with a chance to win a CD of your choice plus a subscription to the Togetherness Magazine. Incidentally, if you know which legendary soul star was born Yvette Marie Stephens can you let me know so that I can enter the competition?:))

I hope you find the above information of use

All the best

Love the site!  Will keep coming back and having a look! Try "the In Crowd" site at www.ukonline.co.uk/theincrowd - a link and vice versa would be appreciated.

foz,,just finished looking at your site it,s not bad at all, tell your missus to keep up the good work, sooner or later the soul bug catches most people who appreciate good meaningfull tunes, again nice site, and thats from someone who hates everything

Like many others from the seventies scene am now very far removed from all things soulful, I live and work on Skye and am happily married with 3 great kids. Before I moved here I flogged most of my record collection and am down to 50 or so singles, I will never forget the clubs(Wigan, Samantha's, Whitchurch, Mecca etc.etc.), and the people I met. I only play the records occasionally now as the buzz I get is both enjoyable but painful, perhaps because those days seem so long ago. Is trying to go back wise? At 42, perhaps not, but a blast of The Triumphs or Gene Chandler can still make me feel like a teenager, and it has been a real pleasure to read your web pages. Who knows maybe I'll try a club next year!

                                                                                            Thanks for the memories,

                                         Bill.

some excellent comments on your site . I have only been online for a few months and found some excellent sites . I have drifted in and out since 78 and after a gap of 7years am about to start again here in the NEast.

Just wish I had the guts to go to a do again. I'm 44, bald and weigh 21 stone I don't think I could handle not being able to dance all night.
Nice read , keep it up.
