"Party's over for Gisele and Leo

Regardless of their A-list pedigree, Leonardo DiCaprio and his Brazilian fiancée, Gisele Bundchen, were turned away from the venue of novelist Wendy Holden's party on Tuesday night - as were the Duchess of York, Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah.

The baseball-cap-wearing, pony-tailed Leo 26, and pneumatic Gisele, were staying at London's swanky Berkeley Hotel on the same evening Wendy was promoting her book, Pastures Nouveaux, in the bar downstairs.

But any chance of Hollywood's royalty raising a glass to Wendy was quashed. "Leo came down just before the party kicked off flanked by security guards and said he'd like to have a drink in the blue bar with friends," she explains. "Unfortunately, he was told it was a private party."

Fergie, Gordon Brown and his wife also tried but were told the same thing. They were explains a hotel spokeswoman "invited to take drinks in a different bar." It is a pity Wendy did not invite Leo, Fergie and co in..........the top "celeb" at her bash was Newsnight presenter Jeremy Vine. Another absentee was Tara Palmer Tomkinson on whom Wendy based her socialite character Champagne D'Vyne. "She's my muse, " twittered Wendy, "Shakespeare had the Dark Lady, Yeats had Maud Gonne and I've got Tara." Dear oh dear."
