A
cooperative venture with the University of Virginia,
His Place Farms, and the purebred Angus cow #6. Our research is
aimed at discovering #6's dietary performance on the grasses of Reva,
Virginia.
To this end, we have surgically implanted a
solar-powered miniature Global Postioning
System and a webcam in Cow #6's digestive tract, downstream from the fourth
rumen. Telemetry is provided via satellite servers relaying through a W-Band
Multifunction Fire Control Radar Antenna. Click on the photo at right to view
antenna installation close-up.
Both the GPS and the Gutcam are updated at 5 minute intervals, although we
are gathering on-ground data more frequently.
