And Pat Zimmerman McCammon says... Wish I could be there but I am too busy with my job as concierge at a local resort after 9-11.  Please send any information you can.  I'd love to hear the news!

Sandy Bunt Uyterhoeven: I look back on my years at WHS as important & positive in shaping my life.  Other periods that stand out as formative after 1953 are my years at Miami University, Ohio as an economics major, and later those at Stanford Business School. My 25 year marriage included many good times and ended in divorce. I have 4 daughters and 4 grandchildren.   My career spans local elective government, state government (environmental), and 11 years working on business and financial aspects of the Boston Harbor Cleanup. Then in an about face in 1995 I became a yoga teacher.  I'm currently practiing and continuing to study yoga therapy - i,e, yoga for wellness.
Sara Bergvall was in 3rd grade when the above photo was taken! Does anyone know who is standing beside Gail Culp?  Many thanks for the pix, Sandy!

Carl and Jeanne Brown Merola: Hello to all. After all these years it seems strange being in communication with some of you again. Anyhow, Jeanne and I have five children and fourteen grandchildren, all of them the brightest, prettiest or most handsome and most athletic. Lets see, did I leave anything off? I worked for Westinghouse for many years at the Research Center in Churchill Boro and then went to work for a division that transferred about 700 families from Pittsburgh to Orlando. We lived in Orlando for 16 years, and I retired there in 1994. Three years ago we moved to North Carolina, where we now live. We really love it here. I am including a picture from our front yard. While we lived in Monroeville, Jeanne and a friend ran a Christian gift shop called "The Gift." After we moved to Florida she became the prepress manager for Charisma Life Sunday school materials. She retired in 1998. I am looking forward to seeing all of you next year. As the class president I am very thankful to the committee for doing all of the hard work they have done to promote and carry off this reunion.

July Update: Carl: I have many memories of WHS. Bob Sleppy and I used to go down into the boiler room with Walt Hellings and have a smoke. I quit smoking but Bob never did and I think it was a contributor to his early death. I also remember how we used to try to find a place to park on Center St hill so that if our battery was dead (quite often) or our starter was broken (sometimes), we could coast down the hill and catch the car in gear. I also remember the locker room at Penn Hills High School after we lost our football game and were eliminated from the possibility of winning the WPIAL Championship. It was the only time I ever saw some of the guys crying.

(
Note from Pat Baxmeier) Ahhh, I remember that well, Carl! It was a very sad
                         get-together after that game :-(

Jeanne:  The most vivid memories are of Chapel! Did such a thing really exist in public schools? Hard to believe! I loved the Acapella Choir, the silly antics of the football players and others on stage, the talent displayed by so many. I also remember little Miss Brindley being terrorized by some of the big seniors in Study Hall..they threatened to throw her out the window. In retrospect, she was "gutsier" than I realized!

Dave Rogers: Retired after 32 years. Ex-Dir Tioga County Boys and Girls Club and Wilkinsburg Boys Club (64-69). Loving every minute of retirement. Play a lot of golf but Bill Guy is my mentor/idol. Rick Wolford is still my ex roomie (you figure that out). Margie Holiday Hurst is still my grade school sweetheart.

Eleanor Hiller Buckley: After graduating in 1953, I attended a teacher's college and taught for 36 years, traveling from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia, to Oshkosh, WI with my husband, Dr. Richard Buckley.  Dick died after 24 years of marriage, and I retired shortly after that. Since then I have been active in my church, taken up watercolor painting, and volunteered to be a citizen's Advocate for a mentally retarded lady, and a senior pal to elderly women. In my spare time I've traveled to 6 continents and 20 countries. During your reunion, I'll be in San Diego on vacation. I'm sorry to miss it.

Pat Wineman Frahm is retired; married 42 years; 2 children, 7 grandchildren.
Memories: Playing volleyball and basketball in intramural sports. Leaders Club. Everything was alphabetically assigned. My friends were the WXY,Z gang! Barbara Fisher Rust is the only classmate I'm in touch with. Learned my secretarial skill at WHS and was able to earn my living for several years with these skills!

Gerald Shields: Left Pittsburgh 37 years ago; 7 years in FL, 30 years in Texas. Married; 2 stepsons; 4 grandchildren. Retired from Trane Air Conditioning. Two ABS degrees, Electronics, Air Conditioning Refrigeration. Heavily engaged in Scottish Rite -  Children's Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Takes up most of my retirement time but don't ask my wife; she'll tell you she's a golf widow!  Looking forward to renewing old friendships in September.  Gerald.

Gail Culp Geller: I remember it was a happy time and think often of those I grew up with during all my school years. I still have all three of my Annuals and go through them from time to time.

Bob Cole: Still messing around with old Chevys. I have been retired seven years and don't have time to finish anything. Just working for my honey Loretta and chasing after four children and their mates and eleven beautiful grandchildren.  We do find some time to take trips on my Honda Gold Wing.

Don NeffMarine Reserve sent me to Korea in "50".  Came back in 52 & rejoined Marines in "55".  Married to Judy Bennett from Carrick. Went to Vietnam.  Forgot to duck twice.! Returned home to Parris Isl.  ( Beaufort S.C. ) and retired in 72.  Wife retired from Naval Hosp a few years ago as an R N.  So, after four daughters, and eight grands, we're taking it easy. She's into stained glass, and I still work with wood projects. Just waiting for our 50th to roll around and see what kind of a party the kids give us!!!

Jay Conley sent us some pix for you to enjoy! Thanks Jay!

I still own my grocery stores (just 3 now). I told that Arkansas girl "I'm selling the grocery stores and will become the Boss at home". That Arkansas girl told me "I better keep the grocery stores".
Sara Bergvall AllisonI can still hear "Moooose" echoing in Chapel! And I love the memories of Chapel. Wasn't it a nice break in the day? Today it would never happen. Sara

Have met many interesting people, made many good friends and have taken advantage of being close to cruise ships by going on 12 in the past 4 years. I remember our grade school and high school with many fond memories.  My best to all.
Grace McLeod Studebaker:  Thinking about our upcoming reunion has brought back so many memories of friends and things that took place at WHS. My mother always said I had to be really sick to stay home because I was afraid I would miss something. She was right. I think my favorite thing to remember was going to chapel, sitting in the balcony as sophomores, then the back of the first floor as juniors and finally in the front when we got to be seniors, the programs and the pep rallies and seeing everyone each day.   The class I now appreciate most was Miss Woodworth's typing class. Without that class I would be typing emails with only two fingers instead of being able to use all ten of them. In 1956 I married Ross Studebaker, class of 1952. We lived in several places until 1965 when we moved back to Pgh and have been here ever since. We have two sons, Gregory, who lives in Rockville, Md. and Don, who lives in Leesburg, Va. with his wife and our three grandsons.
