It was during summer of 2000 that Lexie Carver was called
to Chicago for a medical conference, however, when she returned
she had undergone an unusual personality change.
Unbeknownst to all in Salem, Lexie was not herself at all,
but Nikki Wade who had kidnapped Lexie while in Chicago
and left her tied up in the basement of an abandonned building
where she was expect to die.
Nikki's uncanny resemblance to Lexie made her ability to
impersonate her all too simple for the conniving lunatic.
With this ability to her advantage, Nikki posed as Lexie
while carrying out a malicious revenge on her former boyfriend,
Abe Carver.
Nikki, (who was played by the same actress as Lexie Carver
on Days) was terribly hurt that Abe would dump her only to end up
marrying a woman who looked exactly like her.
Nikki began her revenge by slipping a hallucinagenic into
the Chamomile tea she often served Abe to soothes his nerves.
Over several months of poising, and malicous pranks, which
included placing Marlo's dead body in the back of his car, Abe began
to act out in fits of paranoid hysteria, leading to his imprisonment
in a mental institution.
Nikki's plan was working like a charm, when Barb and Glen Reiber
arrived in town looking for Marlo's child.
Their search led them to the Carver home where they vowed
to take Isaac. This new problem did not sit well with Nikki,
so she decided to finish Abe off once and for all and leave town
before Barb and Glen could cause her any further grief.
Nikki payed a visit to Abe on Friday the 13th, where she
revealed her true identity to him.
As she left, she made sure to leave his door unlocked
so he would be able to escape and try to stop her.
With the intentions of luring Abe back to the DiMera mansion
where she planned to kill him,
Nikki threw a dinner party and invited several of Lexie's closest
friends.
During the course of the evening,
Barb and Glen showed up, determined to take Isaac.
Nikki knocked Barb out with one punch
and ordered her and Glen to leave.
Once they were gone,
Abe arrived and Nikki put the second part of her plan into action.
She presented him with divorce papers and humiliated him before
everyone in the room.
Although Abe was aware of Nikki's true identity,
the effects of the drugs she had been giving him
left him disoriented, and he fled the mansion abruptly.
From there Nikki ended the party by insulting each of the guests
who were highly concerned by her behavior.
Having told off everyone including Celeste,
Nikki revealed to all that John was the father of Hope's baby.
However Hope denied this to Bo which he accepted as truth.
After all had left the mansion,
Nikki went upstairs to the bedroom
where she took a syringe in her hand which contained a toxic poison
and promised to finsih Abe off once and for all.
The next time we saw Nikki, she was emerging from the bedroom
and making her way toward the staircase.
There she stood momentarily before plummeting to the floor below
with two stab wounds in her back and the syringe injected into her
side.
The Midnight Raven then descended the steps and dropped a
Raven feather over her lifeless body.
Shortly afterwards, Stefano DiMera found Nikki's body
and when Abe returned and finally blurted out the truth,
Stefano set out on a search to find his daughter.
It was then that we learned Stefano was responsible
for bringing Nikki to town in the first place,
as he planned to use to her help drive Abe insane,
but had no idea what she had done to Lexie or that she
has been posing as his daughter for months.
Once Stefano found Lexie, he brought her back to Salem,
although it would now appear that the real Lexie is
giving Nikki Wade a run for her money as a villainess.
