Tooling issues

Plan and research before building a mold...

Planning and research can end up saving companies time and money and in the end will put you in the forefront with your customers.

      Most important steps

    • Gather all processing information to add into design calculations
    • Meet with your processing staff for personal input
    • Sample test mold with realistic and true processing parameters

Planning properly before building a mold will save your company a great amount of time and expense in getting a new project into production. You should always meet with your processing staff to get processing data and proper temperatures to include into calculations. Also, when testing a mold for qualification and debugging, run a true process where process will be stable right from the start. You should never attempt to process around a tooling issue. Your part quality will suffer and you will most likely have an unacceptable fall off rate.
