On the north side of Union Street (corner of Union St. and University Ave., Building 60 on map) is the Physical Education Center (PEC).

The PEC incorporates the old gymnasium built in 1931 and contains locker rooms, three gymnasia, a swimming pool, squash and racquetball courts, a weight exercise room, a dance studio, combatives room. Queen's provides opportunities for students to compete in a large number of intercollegiate teams, as well as the student-run intramural program. There are 40 inter-university or varsity teams as well as sports clubs, year-round clinics, sports skills instruction programs, and fitness classes.

The PEC is home to the School of Physical and Health Education, the Chaplain's Office, and Queen's Athletics Department.

UPDATE : In December 2009, Queen's competed major renovations to the PEC. It is now called the Athletics & Recreation Centre (ARC).
